Well, maybe I need to learn to use Maestro. I’m on a Symphony I.

Or turn off your plugs Yeah, but I like my people to feel inspired by tracking to something that's at least a rough mix. I know I prefer it, and I get better performances out of others.

yes good point, you can run plugs in the control app for tracking that purpose, I was commenting on the person running plugs in their daw

I read the manual front to back and didn't see that. Also, I am that person running plugs in their DAW. I can't imagine that I'm the only one who does while overdubbing.

Yeah that would be the first I’ve heard of plugs in Control. And I too always have some processing going in the DAW. I just monitor latency free in Control (or formerly UAD Console) and never worry about the DAW processing.

They have a video about running a verb in control while tracking ( remember I posted it here along time ago, just like ua console. If you can run a verb why not other plug ins ? look at the screenshot I posted above: the Fx sends are there. www.apogeedigital.com/video/element-tutorials-low-latency-recording-with-reverbthis talks about element but I believe the principle is the same ? pg 37. www.apogeedigital.com/pdf/symphony-io-mkII-users-guide_april_2017.pdfFX Send - Signal from each channel can be sent through this mixer by raising the individual FX Send Channel Fader. •This Mixer is sent back into the computer where it shows up as an extra stereo input available in your DAW. By using this input on an Aux track that has a Reverb or Delay or other effects plug

At best, it'd be parallel anyways with the FX send.

You're hearing the massive amounts of latency with that process, but they figure it's acceptable for reverb. Could a tiny onboard chip running a verb REALLY be that expensive?

How would I even implement a cheap HW reverb for just tracking purposes?

I have my Bricasti set up on an aux track in pro tools pretty much permanently on channels 15 & 16 of my Symphony. When I am tracking I just send signal to it via a bus. So far I've never had any singers complain of latency. Maybe there is, but I guess because it is reverb nobody notices. I have everything on a patchbay so I can switch it around if needed but so far it has found a home on 15 & 16. I also track through my 2bus+ so that may make a difference also. I'b be curious to see how others have things like this routed.

How would I even implement a cheap HW reverb for just tracking purposes? Best approach ? Buy a Mackie 1202 send DAW to a couple of inputs bring vocal in on another use a post fade aux for verb send use pre fade aux for monitoring. Use line input for return mix to taste use bus out for wet dry mix / split verb out for all wet if you want to track it! I'll say it again everybody should have a small mixer best audio Swiss Army knife ever!

By using this input on an Aux track that has a Reverb or Delay or other effects plug The DAW is running the plugin, not Apogee Control. You can do the same thing by adding an Aux track to your session, setting the input to a physical input on your interface, and inserting a reverb or tap delay plugin on the aux. No input monitoring or anything required.

It’s learning the new nomenclature - which I still don’t think I completely know what they mean. I just got mine set up through trial and error, it worked and I haven’t really looked again. Btw - as some have mentioned - you can get tech support really easily through online chat on the site.
