Anyone ever re-amp anything else besides guitar? I have the thought to see how re'amping a vocal will sound. Might be a fun experiment.

Quite often, I will send a recorded vocal track out thru a re-amp box to a small guitar amp, distort to taste, and usually mic from a distance, blend back into mix to taste, does wonders!

I've reamped bass (yes, not earth-shaking news here) with a lot of success, and piano (sampled) in order to record the room sound. That worked out great!

I have a bass track that's really boomy on some notes. It really should be recut, and the usual tools aren't helping much. I wonder if reamping would help at all.. guess I'l have to see for myself.

I've reamped acoustic through a speaker near a singer to match live bleed into the vocal mic for overdubs.

I sent a TX81z synthesizer through a large pedalboard into a small tube amp, with several effects engaged.
I know it's not rocket science or groundbreaking but it sounded SUH-WEET.

I re-amp the close drum mics for a room tone, no OH/cymbals and add kick to taste. Have a pair of double fifteen PA cabinets at one end of the tracking room, room mics at the other and EQ for thunder.

I have one of the monitor outputs on my Crookwood console permanently connected to an Orchid Electronics reamp box, which is usually plugged into my AB763 Deluxe Reverb clone. Makes it easy to route anything to it in software, for re-recording, so I've literally tried sending everything through it, except for whole mixes. Can sound insanely good on some things if just blended in slightly with the dry sound, vocals etc.

Apparently this was how the they do Julian Casablanca's vocals from the strokes. Sending the vocal out through a small cranked amp with an 87 on it, go figure Give it a shot!

I do it with vocals and acoustic instruments all the time. Throw the signal through my pedals and into an amp.

Man this thread really has me inspired to experiment. Besides gtrs here and there I don't do a lot of reamping but I have a moogerfooger and a few other cool pedals I really want to run vocals through.

My thought was if I took a vocal that was recorded some time ago with not a very good mic and in a less than ideal space, play it back through a nice monitor such as a JBL LSR305 placed in a nice room, using a very nice mic - would it make a much more usable take?

Classic 'trick' from what I understand.. Works really well. I use it Ion Vocals more often than anything else. Nice on tons of stuff for added distortion. Worth the effort to setup
Julian was using an ampeg head on his vocals live last time I saw him. Definitely his vocal sound.

i once sent a kick sample into a Ampeg SVT with 8X10 and mic'd it up
some people reamp snare using a speaker on top of it. Cool sound, if you can't use the original at all. Having to resort to that seems frustrating, but in a non nerdy sense. I have also loved sending crunchy hip hop sounds and samples thru small low watt'ers.
also a hamonica thru a Leslie rotating speaker is pretty badass

Bass and synths mainly, to amps. To get more acoustic depth.
But I have a shitload of boutique guitar pedals, so I should do this more often.

Blues harp in my bathroom. Drums in the attic. I mainly reamp anything besides guitar for ambiance. I have also reamped a virtual B3 to a driven Marshall with a spring reverb, then sent it to a Leslie. Or reamp a snare. Suspend a speaker one or two inches above another snare and put a mic on the underside to catch the resonances and the snares rattling. Blend to taste. Lots of fun.
