Gambled on this since my Novatron subscription ran out weeks ago and I didn't feel like The Glue or my other compressors was doing the job. The SDC really does deliver. Just as good as Novatron, if not better. Seems to use a lot more cpu though. SDC immediately makes stuff bigger, smoother, and way more cohesive. Vocal harmonies blend that much better. And this is with me hardly tweaking the default at all. I've changed the thresholds some and put it in mid-side while cranking the gain on the discrete to the right. The vibe it imparts is impressive too, it's more energetic and not harsh at all. Definitely check this out since it's only $30. Next I want to try the Ch5 API 525 and 550 EQ emulation with pre-amp. The STA Limit looks cool too as well as the new Disto.

I had SDC on my short list forever becasue of your post I bought it yesterday. One of the badest Bus compressors ever.
The opto makes crazy gain jumpings. The metering is a pure mess.
And the so called trasnformer section?? Sorry waht is this?
If I compare it to my hardware - sorry this plug in is not worth even 5 bucks. 29 bucks sorry Sknote I want my money back - this thing is not worth a penny.

As much as I enjoy the plugs I have gotten from SKnote, metering can be...trying. I always have Verbtone on my vocals because to me it sounds just killer and what I hear in my head, but it has no meters for me to complain about. I like the STA-limit but too, metering gets me down. It forces me to listen and not look which is a good thing, but I have been leaving it to sit in the corner of my compressor folder collecting digital dust as I have graduated and moved on to other tools that I can more fully depend on ITB.

I do everythibg by ear. Sdc pairs well with my master chain. The lindell 354 is crucial to it though.all i can say is that it works superb for me. Just got ch5 and that rules too.
