We are about to set up a Facebook Recording Studio page that will be linked to the News page of our Wordpress website so editing either will automatically update the other.
However looking through the available FB page categories there is no 'Recording Studio' category which is odd because there is a 'TV Studio' option.
I don't want to use the 'Local Business or Place' because it requires a physical business address and we don't particularly want 'unsolicited visitors'.
Any suggestions as to what others have done?

Facebook removed "Recording Studio" when their programmers couldn't figure out what one was over their Vegan lunch buffet in the Menlo Campus.

Maybe you could write something like "By Appointment Only" in the address line and just have the city, state and phone number. I can't imagine that facebook really cares much if you provide the actual address or not. To their thinking you wouldn't get business if people didn't know where to go. I'm sure there's gotta be people putting PO box addresses in there.

We did manage to find a "Music Production Studio" category but you have to first create a page before you can find it. It's not in the default FB choices offered before the page is created. The trick is to find a category close to what you want, create the page and then re-edit the category to something more appropriate.

I think Facebook pages are a scam, they are very ineffective in my experience. Better than nothing? Not sure, I deleted mine last month.

Like it or not many people I know ONLY use social media to communicate these days.
I actually closed my FB account and left for a year. It was only when I discovered I had to first setup a personal FB page BEFORE I could setup a business page that I reluctantly rejoined the herd.
I've made my personal profile as private as possible.
The 'cashless society', self driving cars, loss of private property ownership, the surveillance state, etc. Welcome to the future and the future is now!

I despise everything it stands for: a closed internet versus an open one. We got rid of AOL once already. But it appears inevitable. Clearly no one looks for websites anymore, and Google isn't a search engine, it's a paid advertising engine. People don't like to be free, they like to be convenient.

Well it depends. Sponsored posting and shared posting et al is not what it used to be, only about 10% of those who liked your page see any of your regular posts and sponsored posting tends to just force all those who already liked it to see it loads of times and show a few random others.
It used to be much better but they're throttling it now to gain more revenue from it. Problem is I think they've killed the golden goose, as do lots of analysts. Their user base isn't growing like it used to.

Their user base isn't growing like it used to. The studio Facebook page has been up for a few days and we've had a fair bit of initial activity due to friends responding to invites which is informing them that we have a new studio website. Of course after the flurry of activity this is now dying off and Facebook has begun bombarding our newsfeed with requests for us to pay to have our posts 'Boosted'. I've prepared a bunch of blog/news posts on our Wordpress studio website which automatically link to the FB page as soon as they are published so I will start releasing a news post every couple of days and see how much the activity spikes. I suspect overtime the response will be a lot less than it was to the initial launch as Facebook begins to progressively limit the number of people who can see our activity unless we pay for it. The other option is to set up a Group to ensure those who join it can see all our activity but then this by default will shut non Group members out altogether. Of course the next big thing that is growing exponentially is the storage of everyone's data exclusively in the Cloud with the ability to use local storage devices being not only discouraged but eventually restricted to the point that local storage devices such as external hard drives and memory sticks etc. will no longer even be recognised. At this point everyone's data is no longer their own and will be held to ransom by the corporate for profit cowboys.

Yeah, that's the stuff that got me deleting my FB areas. It's a scam, like I said.
I don't know if it's exactly relevant but the more I regard the 'real world' and the less stock I put into 'computering people' the more results I seem to get personally.
I find it hard to take any of the social media very seriously anymore. I sort of regard it as a toy or a diversion. Not exactly the best place, for me, to cast my pearls, as it were.
