I knew this was coming so sold my fp 8, a lot of features for I think $799 list ?
My fp8 worked flawlessly and the 16 seems to have smarter software: nice !

I use mostly logic but some studio one.
With first drivers it was a little funny but after update perfect.

im down. kinda wish there was a pan pot on each channel though. looks like street is $999. Might wait for the first wave of used & demos to save a few bucks. still wishing SSL would make a dumbed down Nucleus somewhere under $2k

You can get the group discount at JRR by typing group in I think: 10% or so?
There is more than one way to pan with FP I didn't find it so problematic .

Can it change the size of the playing field by stretching and shrinking it both horizontally and vertically? that's one of the features I love about the X-touch.

The 8 did this and the 16 has more features somewhat daw dependent though !

The one thing I don't like about my Faderport (1) is the pan pot. It's way too fine in control, I wish it was a simple potentiomter. It's too tweaky, takes too much energy and i DON'T LIKE IT. Haha. Who here doesn't value hard panning more than precision fine panning?
The main thing I'm seeing here vs my Faderport single is way more faders. I don't know if that's a big deal for me or not. .. . leaning towards not at the moment.
They didn't even really seem to address EQ stuff like Softube Console 1, or something else. Just a whole buncha faders is what it looks like.
That said, still really putting some heavy use on my Faderport for about $115, love that darn thing.

the fp 8 and 16 is way more than faders Have you watched any of the demo videos ? The fp1 isn't really a controller in terms of deep functionality but the FP 8 certainly is and looks 16 more so? I agree fp1 pan feel sucked 🏀 but the 8 is much better 16 probably the same as 8?

I guess I should do some more homework to see if they are worth considering for.

I had a fp1 and fp8, so I can speak from that experience.

I can’t get my FaderPort 1 to work with Win8/PT12. Hard for me to get excited about the HUI protocol which is essentially end-of-life on ProTools, correct? Maybe this is more of a PT problem than a PreSonus problem.

FP8 was more deeply integrated in studio one, very deep in logic and I never used it in PT.

FP1 sucked big time for me in Logic. Sold the damn thing and got the Behringer X-Touch, which is pretty good. Love the shuttle wheel and the transport.

FP1 is like a 10 year old design with flaky drivers: fp8 was very good in logic just not as integrated as studio-one

I'm using Faderport 1 in Cubase with a little MIDI mapping set I downloaded from Presonus, and it's rock solid for me so far.

Maybe this is more of a PT problem than a PreSonus problem. I'm in the market for a PT control surface and from everything I've been reading, Avid does not make it easy on anyone building HUI controllers. Unfortunately Avid's current offerings are expensive and buggy/unreliable. I was actually hoping to see the next generation S3 type device here at AES. (Last one was released at AES 14.) Hopefully that's somewhere in the pipeline...

Looks like it would work great in conjunction with a Console 1, side by side. I wonder if it has the same issue about track select syncing in different daws?
I still think that UAD should come out with a 16 fader channel strip that plugs into their Apollo/Satellite with EQ/comp controls for the channel strips so you could simulate a real analog channel. The perfect control surface because they would control the software and the controller so integration would be perfect. This is tha main reason that most hardware controllers fail or disappoint. It would give people a huge reason to buy in and stay in with their system. I know I would buy it in an instant.
