I was lucky enough to have seen The Dan twice here in the UK.
Very sad news - truly a legend.
A truly great musician - as is Donald Fagen.

I saw a recent video clip of a live SD concert. I must say Walter didn't look well and it crossed my mind whether this news maybe not far away. R.I.P. Walter.

Strange how all the good people are leaving this planet. RIP Walter EDIT: Just realized that could have been taken to be something political which it was not. . . just humor. Anyhow... A very sad moment shared by all of us. Walter Becker, unbeknownst to most, contributed some guitar solos to SD records as well as bass and rhythm guitar!

Nothing comparable to Steely Dan out there now, to my knowledge. Steely Dan was the prime reason I kept upgrading my playback system in the day.
RIP Walter. DFTR.

Back in the day SD began with the team of Fagen, Becker, Gary Katz and Roger Nichols. They were probably responsible for selling more Hi-Fi systems than the actual sales guys in the stores.
