Sounds great, man! I've got the Zulu setup over here. Do you generally stay around those settings you posted above? Still trying to get a handle on this thing. I like to bypass things to see where I've been and where I'm at, but it's a bit of a pain to set up a bypass workaround. How do you normally insert Zulu? I recommend spending some time with just it in the signal path instead of inserting it into a chain, just so you get to know what it does when you have it in a plain jane patch. Everything else is gravy from there. Bypassing the Deck and the Bias is a great way to get a handle on the sound of the unit with the tape circuit and Bias in bypass. This does the least amount of transient shaping, saturation and so on. A hardware bypass is a challenging prospect indeed, mainly because each setting is going to incur varying amounts of loss. I run into the same problem using a tape deck, where I park my send gain to the 2 track deck is going to change my perception of the dry track if I suddenly bypass it because I have to level match the send/return with the dry from the ITB mix, but an RMS match vs a peak level match will give very different results for the sake of comparison! Bypassing for AB is very different than bypassing just to have it out but not unplugged, especially for something like this (passive with no amp). Thanks -L.

Hi lcr I would say that there is one thing that helped me get rid of a long standing issue. Pro Q 2 by Fab Filter. The ability to basically solo the band of EQ you are boosting or cutting... really helps me dial in to get rid of masking frequencies between instruments..in particular I was and have always been having issues in the 160-240Hz region.... I had demo'd PRO Q 2 before but had missed out on its ability to do the solo the band, prior to the demo finishing... I had to upgrade my Fab Filter stuff, and got another demo...and as soon as I used it this time, I bought it. It helped a lot cheers Wiz Thanks for shring this Wiz. Fabfilter eq is my go to eq most of the time, however I never use the solo feature(facepalm..) so are you soloing with your daw 2 different inst.then sweeping a Q2 solo on one of the solo'd channels to listen for ugly nasty masking? Not really I listen to sound, might be the whole mix, might be the two competing elements.... and in my mind I hear the offending area thats conflicting... say its bass and kick drum... (which it often is) and I then solo the bass guitar, grab the band I think it is on the PRO Q 2, and then solo the band and slide it left or right to find what I was hearing in my head, then cut, unsold, and bring the two elements back together... all happens faster than I can type it. what it is, is a way better method than the old boost and sweep. I do it by the "pitch" of what I am hearing, and sometime will hum the note.... Before PRO Q2, sometimes I would feed an oscillator into the mix and bring it up just loud enough to hear and sweep the oscillator to find the frequency. I find the old post the parametric EQ and sweep with all the mix playing, functional and have done it for years... the PRO Q2 way of being able to solo the band, is just super quick and really helps you learn the frequency way faster and more efficiently. Especially on stereo mixes... man... cheers Wiz

Cool sounds you're getting Wiz! I dig your treatments. Each attempt has high levels of merit and tone that I dig. What's the vocal chain/treatment on this record? Thanks -L. Hi illacovThanks man.... very kind of you... digging your box. The vocal was my normal path... U87 , 1073DMP, STA, Delta EQ, Stam SA2A, Warm Audio 1176 Then just rides, manual de easing. cheers Wiz

How I use it, is via LOGICs IO PLUG IN. So I can bypass it when I bypass the plug in. The IO plug in has the ability to add or remove gain within it.. so thats one way you could do it, I did a bit of this when I first got it to try and see how it worked. cheers Wiz
