Chad, good to see you here! Welcome to the group. Thanks for for the kind words. This is literally one of my favorite songs and one I’ve been singing publicly since I’m 15. It was nice to re-record it. I recorded it with that arrangement by my friend humblecomposer back 2001 or 2002. I was 19 and it was the first studio session I ever really had. So it was really nice to revisit it in the studio. In in case any one is interested my FleA 49 was going through my Dan Alexander 1272. ITB I ran it through the UAD Studer Tape Recorded, into the UAD EQP1 with bandwidth set to 4, high boost set to 8khz boosted to notch 2, then into the UAD SSL 4000 with a roll off at 70 hz and a shelf boost of about 1db at 8 kHz again. The track just needed some air in the vocal. Also using the SSL comp at 2:1 with a medium release with 3 to 6db of compression, then into the UAD LA2A Grey for another 1-2db on peaks and for vibe. Using Slate’s Verb Suite Classics TC Electronics 6000 plate emulation, which has been my go to for big broadway and crossover vocals since I tried it a few years ago. Thanks, Vincent! Yeah, your familiarity and passion surrounding this song just shows up in your performance. It doesn't sound like it's coming *from the head*. What I am hearing is... *all heart*. (And, I just saw the Richard Marx comment. How cool is that??) Love the Flea 49 on your voice! (I'm STILL getting to know my Flea 47) “To play a wrong note is insignificant; to play without passion is inexcusable.” – Beethoven

I’ve posted a bunch of clips of me singing into my FleA 49, but here is a studio vocal Emily did for an upcoming online video game. We recorded it using the FleA 49 into my Dan Alexander (Neve 1272) into my Apollo silver face. Mix was done by the composer.

I've used these bodies before though; they are gorgeous and worth the wait. In fact, these will be the best yet because we did the historic yoke reproductions and nickel-plated those too.

I'm losing faith in Andrew, now. I've ordered a U47 body 3 years ago, and he did not answer my emails since march. He told me then they were coming back from platers.

Are you doing builds of these then? I will be soon, yes. Making at least six. I would have loved to use the Aputis m49 body, but I feared it was too expensive. I’d REALLY love if your yoke Mount would be available for sale as a separate item and would fit my CU49 body I just can’t bring myself to order the RED yoke from VK....

The Red yoke from VK gets the job done; I actually used it on the previous couple I built but like you, I felt it could be done better. The next ones will have the full size vintage yoke, plated at the same nickel platers in germany. Sadly, I didn't get any extras. Just six and six. Chad

Here is another example of my FleA 49. This is my FleA 49 into my Dan Alexander 1272, UAD Studer 800, UAD SSL 4K Channel Strip, UAD EQP1, UAD LA2A Grey, with Slate's Verbsuite 6000 verb on vox and Altiverb for the piano. Piano is Waves Grand Rhapsody Piano.

Just recorded some trumpet with both my FleA 49 and Jim’s FleA 47 for an upcoming video. The FleA 49 had that “Kind of Blue” sound. I’m really stoked about that. The FleA 47 was right there too. Totally a matter of taste, both fantastic,

For my BA-49, I bought the RED mount from VK's reverb store for $75 It seems to work pretty well so far, and looks great. It makes the mic way more usable for me. I hate that Studio939 Shock Mount. But good to have a backup if needed.

Nice. Chris has recommended that mount to me as well but I read some mixed reviews on it. Let us know how it holds up.

Nice. Chris has recommended that mount to me as well but I read some mixed reviews on it. Let us know how it holds up. My friend Sean Eldon gave me some warnings about tightening the screws and snapping the Ring off the Yoke. He said he snapped two of them off the ring by NOT tightening the sides evenly. He said the joint looks like the guy uses Jewelers solder on it. I don't know yet. Seems solid to me. But I am not HE-MAN. I am gentle. Its been on the mic stand since Saturday with no issue yet.

Piano is Waves Grand Rhapsody Piano. Gotta say wow....what a voice!! That Flea sounds very close to my Neumann M49s. I love that feather in the high mids. LowHighs and the presence when you gain in the mids is so controlled. LA2A helps. Id love to hear it all analogue.

Thank you so much! It is really close. Probably a little less on the bottom end, 200 hz or so, than the M49C I used a year or so ago. It's about as close as you can get without the AC701k. I strongly debated having them build it with the AC701, but decided I would be ok without it for what I do.
