John, you have all the gear you need. Just get into wine, and start a great cellar !

What's going on around here? Maybe the site's name should be changed to nogearonline.com.. Kidding aside, if you're looking for a piece of gear I'd +1 the LTL Silver Bullet. What's cool about it is that you can use it to add to or change the character of other gear and plugins, it's like getting a whole new collection.

I agree with whats already been mentioned, try and sponge from others. I'll use upgrading cables as an example. If I swap to "better" cables and they impart a brighter sound, Im still gonna mix the top end how I think it needs to be, probably boosting less because the cabling is brighter. The only way to upgrade the mixer is by learning from others. And not my favorite mixer uses this piece of gear, instead if you solo their guitars it sounds like this. Because whatever gear your favorite mixer uses, you could swap it out with pro sumer stuff they're still gonna get the guitars sitting near the same level, dynamic range and eq'ed the way they mix. I think I would most benefit from rubber necking mixers above my skill set instead of upgrading anything. YES!

What impressed me most about Billy Decker is how freakin' fast he is. He's demo'ing techniques at supersonic speed. Me, I'm agonizing over every control move.

Personnaly, the last piece of gear that just amazed me to a level where I'll remember it for a very long time is the UnFairchild. 10k$. So if it is not the wine or the skills improvement, you should check it !

Was this on another vid of him you watched or the 40 min vid posted before? It was the Producer's Room video posted here. If there's more, I'm down with watching. Cat's a wiz. Minimal plugs too. Just the basics. His website is cool too. Great looking studio. And his mixes pop. Vocals 'way out front, and band rocking. Loud in a way that doesn't sound like it came from brick wall limiting the 2 mix.

At this point, I'd like to raise a practical question...
Do you have a Greek Bouzouki yet?
