been using a pair of Shape50 here, Having owned and LOVED using my CMS50 for over 5+ years, I am seriously PISSED, that these Shape50 BLOW THEM AWAY.
Not to say that the CMS-50 are not incredible, as they are. My work translates AMAZINGLY on the Shape50.
But I can hear the bottom end a LOT more now. So much tighter and way deeper into the lower octave. The clarity is extremely nice on the Shape50. Much more seperation, detail than my CMS50, which are a little "swampy" from jump. Which I don't mind, it helps me get the clarity right in the mix. But these Shape50 are a whole new ball game. You can really hear the chorus parts widen and extended out of the edge of the speaker. The Off-axis is way different on these than the CMS50.
Anyway, I think I am going to pull the trigger on them. They really sound killer.

Better/worse than the Solo/Twin 6 series? these seem to be as effective for me as the Solo's, but they do sound way different. It seems like everything I have come to love about Focal and much more. They sound drier to me, and the bottom is super seriously tight. I love their image, which feels more centered - yet very omni. That is what is impressing me most. They do seem to have a different mid range cross over point compared to the Solo. Which has more Forward Mid Range to my Ears. This can certainly become hard to explain subjective details with Speakers. It all comes down to how you like working with the speaker, and how it translates. My stuff translates REALLY well on them, so I am inclined to think it will make my life easier. Speakers are extremely personal choices, so you really gotta live with something for a while to see how it affects your moves. If I had to compare, [which I have not directly] From memory; these seem like that are On-Par with Solo 6BE, for me anyway. I feel Like I would not be sad if you gave me the choice of either. The Shape have amazing "space" to them, with the lows, width of the stereo balance, tightness of lows. Very impressive Low End. Lows are more solid in the center with these. I like that a bunch. The Solo is more deep and open and super dimensional sounding. Can hear everything little detail of the grass growing outside. They are More holographic than Shape. Yet, the Shape Off-Axis is Much different. So the Shape have a new thing that seems really good to my ears. They sound bigger, vertically, than they look! They feel great to me. I like Focal Stuff though, but some people don't. Anyway, in my travels I have found that the Solo 6BE are more fussy speakers with the room and even fussier with the person using them. CMS series, less so. The Shape seem to be less fussy speakers, [like the cms] due to their design. At least, that is what I have found so far. FWIW, Focal are speakers that sound really good, like hi-fi systems, but when you turn the knobs on your EQ's and compress things, and make the mix sound good on them, it actually translates. This is something that is a constant for me over the long haul of my time using, and recommending them. The Twins have way more power and bottom end, even more widely dispersing, especially in Vertical Mode. But it depends on your room and goals. And your monitoring preferences, ultimately. I would like to try not to have to use more then one pair, in each room I use to listen. Hahaha. I have always thought the the Solo/Twin are very omni-ish and when the Twins are in Vertical mode, you get a very large sweet spot and lots of power to fill the room. The Solos go loud as well, but like My CMS-50, I would never want or really need to use that level of loudness with them. So it depends what your looking for. Hope this helps out,
