Hey guys recently found out about these new monitors from genelec.. they seem to be little brothers of the amazing 8351 3 way coaxial design that has garnered lots of praise from users. I believe they have also won a few awards for their design .... 8341 www.genelec.com/node/18678331 www.genelec.com/studio-monitors/sam-coaxial-studio-monitors/8331-sam-studio-monitor8431 specs ---- +/- 1.5 Db at 45 hz , -6 Db at 38 Hz and 37 kHz π³ For both analog and digital inputs ---- 2x Oval Woofers 6 5/8 x 3 1/2 inch + Coaxial Midrange/Tweeter MDCβ’ 3 Β½ / 3/4 inch + DCWβ’ ---- Woofer 250 W + Midrange 150 W + Tweeter 150 W 8331 specs ---- 45 Hz - 37 kHz (-6 dB) same as 8341, so they say... I assume 45hz is the resonant frequency, or at least usable bass measured after roll off of ---- +/- 1.5 dB (58 Hz - 20 kHz) accurate measurement ---- Oval Woofers 5 1/8 x 2 5/8 inch + Coaxial Midrange/Tweeter MDCβ’ 3 Β½ / 3/4 inch + DCWβ’ ---- Amplifier powerWoofer 72 W + Midrange 36 W + Tweeter 36 W Funny how it takes triple the wattage on the 8341 wattage to gain 6 Db π Just like car audio amps and gaining Db's π«π I have not seen pricing released yet in USA or Europe...

Good to put huge import taxes on goods from Europe... Maybe you are being sarcastic? π I feel if the genelec 8351 were competitively priced in the USA as they are in Europe way more people in the USA would sing their praises... Always hear that the Genelec room software is amazing, so if one is purchasing a pair to go with a set that offers this functionality...

On pics from US studios I can see very very often Genelecs... Btw if someone is for real into that coaxial technology design? He or she should look into the Geithain RL 906 thing. Yes they are made in Germany...

I am speaking about pricing of the 8351 monitors, they are $8600 regularly in USA, however VK has a sale on them currently from $4300 a piece to $3900 a piece...
In Europe the same genelec 8351 monitors are anywhere from β¬2600-β¬3000....
β¬2900 = $3170 β¬5800 = $6340 VK listing = $4275.00 dropped to $3875.00 = $8550 sale for $7750
$8550 - $6340 = $2210 difference in price... this was my point... ππ

Β Haha such a great discount they are offering ππ The 8341 & 8331 are little brother / sister to the 8351... The 8351 has been something I have wanted to work on and hear for awhile but have not had the opportunity... I am shocked that the Us regular price is $2210 more than Europe .. Wonder what the import tax would be on them π... I also saw them for β¬2650 brand new a piece so that's even cheaper than what I used in my math example...

Sarcastic humor? Am I having some trouble with my eyes? On pics from US studios I can see very very often Genelecs... Btw if someone is for real into that coaxial technology design? He or she should look into the Geithain RL 906 thing. Yes they are made in Germany... There are Genelecs all over studios in the US... but I'd say 85-90 percent of them are old 1031A! I've always been intrigued by the Geithain's but purely from reading great reviews and people's praises of them as I've never seen them in person nor met anyone who has. They do not have a distributor in the US and all of the threads (GS and others) inquiring as to how to get them are full of posts saying Geithain does not respond to inquiries! Regardless, I looked at Thomann.de and compared the Genelec 8351A prices on their site vs. Sweetwater in the US and it appears that there is about an 18% mark-up for imported Genelecs. So according to that, it looks like the new 8331's may come in around $2450/each and the 8431's will be around $3,100/each putting them in to the price of a lot of really great monitors If you own a Studio I am sure they are glad to sell a pair to you fresh from the factory....

mrholmes That would violate their dealer / distributor agreements more than likely if they were to sell direct to " whoever owns a studio " ... would be cool to work on these monitors... I am very intrigued by the design π

Oh no the divide keeps getting bigger!Β Β Β Wonder if we can get our leaders to push a FFTA (Finnish Free Trade Agreement?) I've read some things that the 8431 might be the sweet spot - nearly the specs of the 8531 with more powerful amps and more filters for the GLM room correction software (both the 8331 and 8431 have the same which is more than the 8531) Come to think of it my friend Anja is Finnish hmmm.... Why would they put more powerful amps in a smaller monitor Package ? Wouldn't that cannibalize the sales of the bigger 8351?

ChaseUTB it looks like the 8341s are "only" $2950/each US (prices showing up at online retailers). Not inexpensive but $5,900 is better than what I thought/feared That's Barefoot mm45 territory ( mm45 π ) Also, for almost $3000 a piece that's still quite a jump from the euro price. A buddy told me at his local shop in Denmark they are $2650 a piece ( 8351a ) Again not sure who the US genelec price setter is but he/ she is pricing them disproportionately compared to the European pricing. Would love to work on these but this whole price thing is a huge turn off... Thanks for the info ππ

@ jcoutu1
$2750 for a u87 ... vs $3300-$3600 new here in US ( set ) $1900 for a Tlm67 vs $2200 here
We are a capitalistic society in the US driven by high profit margins... Still the genelec pricing pisses me off π«π
