A friend asks if I want his old one for 160€. I never heard about those compressors from Washington USA - are they any good?
Cheers Holmes...

Symetrix Comps have a bit of a lowend cult following, that's mostly the older stuff. Symetrix made its rep as workingmans broadcast and install stuff, nothing really wow here, just basic vanilla tan color.

I've had a few Symetrix pieces. No big color, but really solid, utility hardware.
I live in Seattle and a good buddy worked for them for years, FWIW.
My favs are the 202 and the 501.

Basic Vanilla sounds tasty but if it not special vanilla taste 160 is maybe a bit much for a used unit.

just basic vanilla tan color. I.E. Beige. You know, the 'non-color'. I like their 425 and 206 models.

There was a time I toured with a rack of 6 528E Channel strips, It was nice to have useable Comps eq's and pre's verses what the venues had.

I've got a 501 here. It is quite plain sounding, but it's something I haven't sold and don't want to. There is a little "something" about it. The newer one I tried was not great, stick to the "vintage" symetrix.

Do this apply to Symetrix converters? I'm very happy with lucid 88192 The Lucid Converters are simply a well built converter where the analog section wasn't designed by the Bean Counters. Surprisingly nothing really that special inside, supringly how good that means they sound, shows how truelly easy it is to build a good sounding converter, that means it pisses you off when you think of how compromised most are!
