Hi Guys,
The new price for the SA-3A will be 690.00 USD for pre-orders and 790.00 in stock. This is a 100 dollar price drop from the original pricing, everybody who has pre-ordered so far will get this disccount as well. This will include all the premium components.
I also would like to let you know that thanks to some good rates with DHL this unit shipping will only be around 55 dollars to Canada and the US and about 70 dollars to Europe.
I am working on the new shipping rates for the SA2A, 1073 and other heavier units but it looks like it will be at least 30%-35% less than what it is now starting May.
We still have a lot of work to do with DHL to make this happen and integrate the new platform to our business but it looks promising.
Thanks!!
Joshua

Hi Joshua, does this price reduction apply to those like me who made it in the first 100 orders, (so price go down from 690$ to 590$) ? And did you settle on the output tranny ? Thanks.

Hello Unfortunately it does not. It only brings down the price for those who pre/ordered after you. At 590 I would make no profit out of making this, a loss actually! Thanks!!

Hello Unfortunately it does not. It only brings down the price for those who pre/ordered after you. At 590 I would make no profit out of making this, a loss actually! Thanks!! Hi Josh, I totally understand you need to make a profit out of it, and I, myself, need you to make it so you can make more awesome affordable gear. But I feel there a little bit cheated, or left aside is a better expression, as you try to create a buzz, and I guess to raise money, by offering a deal for the 100st hundred to put an order. It is cool, and good business to announce: "support me, trust me, and you get a reward. This reward is a special deal of 100$ for the first 100 people to put an order." Now, if you get better prices of components, or whatever you got to make the unit less expensive without sacrifying in quality, it is again very nice to lower the price. But, don't let aside your first supporters. The feeling it gives is "I found another way, I don't need you anymore." So if you can't lower the price by 100$ for the 1st 100 orders, of course don't do it. But think of us, and offer something else. 50$, maybe ? or a nice discount for the next unit ? Or if you offer different options, a free upgrade to the most expensive one? I hope you understand what I mean. I think you do, as I remember getting a deal for your SSL comp to reward your first customers who had purchased an SA-2A. Cheers, Manuel.

I understand your point of view, I will look into it
Certainly an extra 100 on another product would be a good option
Lowering 100 for the first 100 that ordered would mean losing about 10k, which I cant afford unfortunately!!
But yes, feel free to quote me on this if you want any other product
Thanks!!

You won't have to wait too long !!
Back to the SA-3A, did you settle on the output transformer ? Meaning did you try a Sowter option ?

When I got my SA-2A, I had to pay only when the unit was assembled if I recall correctly.

Pay attention to what? And what do you mean? Send me an invoice because I owe you money!! I cant access Paypal buddy, I dont know why but it looks like it will be another 3 days You can send it manually to my address! I have not tried the Sowter output yet, it's on its way. It is the input transformer that always makes the largest difference on these type of units, the output transformer is subtle, like with the Sowter and Carnhill on the 1073. On the SA2A the Sowter input and Cinemag output combo sounded almost identical to the Sowter in and out version. Also, due to the raw material being imported to the UK from the US the cost of manufacturing in the US is much lower, I have to take this into consideration as I want to stary affordable and the output transformers from Sowter are twice or three times as expensive as the ones by Jensen or Cinemag. On the input side prices are fairly similar. On the SA87 however I did hear a noticable difference on the output transformer.

A few questions...apologies if this has been covered elsewhere:
Are these going to have the common LA-3A modifications integrated, like what was seen on the UA reissues, or are these meant to be more true to a stock original?
Is there a bypass switch, and will it be on the front panel?
Is the compress/limit switch going to be on the front panel?

All switches will be in the back The frontal look will be like the original stamaudio.com/sa3a.htmlThe back panel will have the limit compress switch and a bypass switch
