I'm reviewing some of these Stager Mics. Had them in use today during a full band tracking session. I'll update this post later with some sound clips and thoughts. Just wanted to share the eye candy.

Looking forward to your review!
I want 2 sr1a or one redd. On the fence. I don't need either and they are completely different. both would be nice. decisions decisions.

+1 looking forward to this review.
I heard that the sr2 uses the neodymium metal stuff for the magnet and the 1a uses the older Alnico magnet. But because of the less forceful magnetic properties of Alnico over neodymium you need more Alnico which adds to the weight of the mic. But Alnico has a slightly different sound then neodymium .

Very cool. Oh, what I'd do with a few of those and a big band.

I saw these on Front End Audio and was really impressed with the drum sounds.

I threw the big 1A up on a drum kit, directly over the kick, pointing at snare parallel to the floor. Really great. I mic'd up an amp with a 2N. Classic ribbon tone. I've got a Crimson Mogaine booster coming to test some more sources. These need some clean gain, like most passive ribbons. There is a definite vintage vibe to these. Very different sounding than my Samar VL37. They seem to take EQ well. The 2N has a surprising heft to the low end. Really great. The 1A sounds smoother on top, a bit. Just a bit more refined and balanced. I prefer it to the 2N. It just looks so cool. But those 2N's are hard to pass up for 500 bucks. But then there's my Samar, which I've found a new appreciation for after comparing. It's a very sweet sounding mic. The Stagers sound more gritty in comparison, which isn't a bad thing. Quite the opposite. I plan to put up some samples soon.

Looking forward to the samples. I'd love to hear these vs Royers or AEAs which I'm more familiar with.

I have a pair of the 2Ns and I love them! Very vibey and rich... Killer on overheads, guitar amp, and Vocals actually. Nostalgic sounding without dullness..
