Yeah I don't ever bother with any type of auto punch. I just listen to the track with the click going and when it gets close to the area, I hit record and play the section. When I do this in Cubase or pro tools, it just recrords over the take that's there. In Logic, I hit record and I still hear the old take and it puts the new take in another "lane." I'm sure it's some setting somewhere, but this is just one of the things I can't spend time figuring it out.

Ah - you beat me to it Chuck! Pull down the "Record" menu and select "Recording Settings" Make sure "Create Take Folder" is selected. In the above screenshot - To the right of the menu is a closed folder, and to the far right is what it looks like when opened ..with some comping going on (For lack of a better word - I called them 'lanes') With the far right image - the track at the top is the composite image - I.e. the sum of all the blue in the track/lanes/takes beneath it.
