Uncle Eric from JRR messin us around from UA forum : "Blind Test: Marshall JTM45 vs. UAD Marshalls vs. AmpliTube 4 Here's a blind test between my JTM45 HandWired Reissue vs. the UAD Marshalls vs. AmpliTube 4 "Red Pig". I will post this to Gearslutz and KVR, as well, and will post the results as soon there are 20 or more responses between all the forums. The DI was a custom Cinemag run into an Apollo preamp with no Unison plugin. Levels were matched using the meter in the UAD Precision Limiter. All settings are the same where possible. Gain settings were approximated on the Marshalls with separate input gains and master outs. The files were gated because the real amp's noise gave it away. All the tracks were routed to a single gate that was being side chained to the DI, meaning the gate response was identical for all files. The real amp is miked with an SM57 and a NOS Audio Panther ribbon mic, which sounds like an R121, into Apollo preamps with no Unison plugins. The UAD Marshalls lack a ribbon close mic so I chose either the SM7b or 609 as the second mic if they were available. Yes, I recognize that this presents a problem but I didn't see why the real amp and AmpliTube 4 should be punished over something that the UAD Marshalls are lacking:" soundcloud.com/eric-dahlberg-2/sets/marshall-blind-testpersonally, I like 4 and 6 : you ? reveal later this week

I like 2 by a good margin. 6 would be the second choice for me.

I like 2,4,6. I think I like 2 best for a mix, then 4. 6 for leads.

None of them sounds particularly good to my ears. They all sound choked, comb-filtered or EQ filtered. 3 is the only one that legitimately sounds like an amp, albeit a poor recording of an amp.
A Marshall is all about the midrange, and that's what gives it its voice and tell-tale tone. The mid sounds 'happy-faced out' in all these. Some 'happier' than others.

Yep , 4 and 6 were the best .
My guess is #4 is the real JTM .
and #6 UAD Marshall .
#5............if thats the real amp it was miced VERY poorly .

WTF is up with #5? I've never heard any amp sim sound that bad. Could be a real amp mic'ed badly (like a mic under a blanket across the room,) but a sim? Especially if the goal was to sound like AC/DC.
