I remember going to see him play with Gary Burton at the Cafe Au Go Go back in the '60s. I'm generally not too big on fusion but Coryell was always an exception.

I love his solo guitar works the most fun thing is when he slips a note with the pick he just don't cares he just brings it to an end and the take stays like that on the CD. He wrote liner notes for a CD booklet of a friend.
I liked that he had no high nose on those who don't like Jazz. He respected all the other ways to make music.
I liked his music never studied it... maybe picked up some interesting changes or a line. I would not call myself a Jazz freak....

He was scheduled to play a gig with his son at my venue in April. Really unfortunate loss.
