Probably Neumann still makes them, that's why I have said before if somebody were to make a copy of the amp, you would have a KM84!

Cause they don't have an internet connection yet, and believe that the 184 is better?

Maybe the manufacturing is too costly for their bottom line...but man, this really isn't listening to the customer base.

It goes hand in hand with their design and marketing esthetic though. They could make U67's or original style U87's and make a killing too....but.....

Maybe the manufacturing is too costly for their bottom line...but man, this really isn't listening to the customer base. KM 184's are cheaper to make, but the thing is Sennhieser/ Neumann Isn't interested in selling 100's of a mic a year they want to do 1000's to 10,000's. Until the market proves to be that large or that people will pay a premium over used for brand spanking new dead on Neumann short run they won't do it , I have had this conversation many times with both the German and American Senn/ Neumann people. This is why when the FET 47 reissue was released I screamed you want the Folks to do a reissue of your favorite classic well Scoop these up FAST, then the folks in charge will say hey there is a market for these reissues!

Sennheiser probably doesn't want them competing with their high end SD mikes. The main difference seems to be not using transformers.
