I've posted this on a Logic Users Group as well but I thought folks here might be able to help as well.
I have three drum takes. Each take is recorded on 8 tracks for a total of 24 tracks - and I'd like to be able to comp them without mixing each take down to a stereo track - with the idea that I can always go back and tweak any effects on the original tracks. (Is this a bad idea?) I've tried making a summing folder of each take and then packing a take folder of all three takes and that didn't seem to work, although I'm pretty sure I did not have them group enabled with phase-lock at the time. I thought before I begin spinning my wheels too much, someone here might be able to steer me in the right direction.
Just now I thought about grouping each set of takes phase-locked as per normal AND then packing a single take folder of Just the OHs, but I'm pretty sure that won't work.

Use Groups and turn on Editing Selection (phase locked if the audio files all start at the same place)
You can also create your own take folders if they weren't already packed into them: 1) order your tracks/regions such that you have each take per mic channel adjacent (i.e. kick track take1, kick track take2, kick track take3) 2) select the 3 regions that comprise all 3 kick takes, right click and "Pack Take Folder" 3) now you've got a take folder with all 3 passes of the kick drum in them and you can comp between them easily. 4) Do the same process (steps 1-3) for the remaining 7 mics 5) Turn on groups for the 8 tracks. In the group settings, enable Editing Selection and Phase Locked if it's available. 6) now any comping/editing you perform on one of the 8 tracks will be performed on the other 7 tracks.
Feel free to PM if you can't get it working.

Thanks Chuck - That sounds like the ticket. I'll play with it this morning.
