Has anybody done this to their Apollo or other set of converters? The Apollo 16 takes 12 volts and I believe it draws about 3 amps in normal operation but I was going to get a power supply with at least double that capacity, if not more.
Any recommendations on a suitable and quality linear power supply that I can buy or build? Obviously, if I'm doing this, it's because I'm looking for an upgrade over the switching psu that comes with Apollo. That being said, I'm also not necessarily wanting to spend $500 or more either. Around $200 or less would be ideal.
I'm also not inherently against the idea of a really high quality switching psu but my interest in a linear psu has been to avoid switching noise and generally move to a psu that is as low noise as reasonably possible. So any switching psu would need to be really high quality if I were to consider it over a linear psu.
Also, does anyone happen to know the pinout on the 4 pin xlr power connection for the Apollo? I can't seem to find that info anywhere.
Any thoughts?

I'd open the Apollo up and just look on the circuit board. I'm sure its printed on there.
Are you hearing something you don't like as far as the power goes with the switching supply?
I've had my silverface for a few years and have never noticed anything.

I've had my silverface for a few years and have never noticed anything. It's not so much something that I'm hearing as explicitly bad but rather the notion that high quality power supply is never a bad thing. I also have a 2192 and that thing sounds superb and definitely beats the Apollo by comparison. Of course the 2192 has a very robust psu and it certainly is a piece to the puzzle of quality conversion. Not that, even with a psu replacement, I would expect my Apollo to match the 2192 but every bit counts and I'm interested in ways to improve it. I'm just looking for incremental improvements to the sound of my Apollo. I know that BLA does some work on the Apollo psu as part of their mod. I'm looking to do one better by going with a dedicated linear psu.
