So it sounds like a private production studio that they are booking out during their downtime. Cool. Hope to get to work there at some point.

Looks to me like they don't HAVE to make money in order to stay afloat.

Wow I dream of having studio and gear like this 🤤🤤🤤 I thought maybe the seven guys all pitched in together to get the place. Then when I looked at the individuals websites, it seem like 4-6 of them are still freelancing or have other studios they work out of as well. So then I was trying to figure out the gear.. Choice HW throughout...The console alone is $100,000 +. That doesn't factor the supposed 1.3 million dollar A room ( designed by Chris Pelonis has anyone heard his rooms ), The B room, 6 monitoring, conversion, Mastering console and room. Well in California ( LA/ OC/ Bay/ Golden Triangle ) money grows on trees and branches forever. I think a master cannabis grower ( guru/ specialist/ top top shelf ) who loves music ( marijuana plants and plant growth responds well to music ) and music making ( probably is pretty good at an instrument or two ) who has wanted a real deal recording studio and this is his/ hers! That's literally what I think. I don't see how $$$ is being made from the music industry to come out the pocket with music capital for a studio startup. Idk, maybe if this were Adele's new studio build then I could understand.... Tax writeoff.

Well, I did check out their available audio, hmmmm, probably could have saved a million dollars with a Wheatstone inline console and dbx 166, in all honesty. Here you have this console crying out for someone to light the fuse, and instead it might as well be a Mackie. Really, what good are tuned rooms and soffit-mounted mains? If you turn them on enough to move air, you can't make any kind of accurate judgement until tomorrow, your ears are already stretched. Strictly for clients while you take a break. I am trying to figure out who they could attract if you can't let your hair down enough because later the little sisters of the rich are going to be making an un-gospel LP, with Joel Osteen narrating. Okay, a bit harsh, but it isn't a mixing console, it is thirty something channels of very cool front end if someone isn't afraid of voltage. The "live" rooms seemed so non-vibe that khakis are mandatory. I am sure they read some book that said that gain reduction beyond 3 db at a slope of 4/1 or more is verboten, when a console with 30 db of head room never smacks a meter. All that beautiful distortion available, never to be heard......hahahahaha. Strictly a porn display for gear lust, you don't actually get to touch anything......and whenever I see a c-12 VR in a collection I know for a fact that the buyers are a salesman's wet dream.....

Idk, maybe if this were Adele's new studio build then I could understand.... Tax writeoff. For the church to produce their productions and recordings? I am naive when it comes to business tax write offs, how would 2+ million be able to be written off? I know churches don't pay taxes so they keep all earnings? I would have to make two million first lol 😂 As per the studio being a write off, if audited would the IRS say the write off is too extravagant meaning they will only allow a percentage written off? To anyone : write off questions for ex: for my studio business I need a car to transport to and from freelance opportunities. I want to have a big suv say an escalade, because I may need to fit a 9u rack in the cargo/ control surface/ mixing board etc. so I go buy an escalade and wrap it with my business logo and contact, I also put nice shiny rims to attract attention and show people the business is successful ( business image ), then install and write off a pro car audio sound system. I use the car audio sound system for my business; mix and master reference, Play clients mixes/ masters for them in a second reference environment, demoing my business 's audio work to new potential customers, advertising my business, etc. Can I write off everything; the escalade, the wrap and rims, and the aftermarket sound system?

I dunno about this particular situation but I do know a PA company over here that is registered as a religious organisation. As a result they are tax exempt both for their gear purchases and their earnings. The company also has a rather poor record of paying their bills and especially their staff yet has managed to survive and expand over the past 30 odd years. Do they exclusively do sound for Christian events? No and rarely these days. So what types of acts do they work with? How about AC/DC's Hell's Bells tour? The Rolling Stones (Sympathy with the Devil)? The 'devil's in the details' A hint, one of the PA company's former co-owners was AC/DC's FOH engineer back in the Bonn Scott days and lives about ten minutes from me. And just how well did he know Bonn Scott? Another hint... this sound guy had a liver transplant about 14 years ago. So yeah, he spent quite some time hanging out with Bonn Scott!
