That place is just sick. I think they might have every piece of gear one could ever want. 32 channels of neve 1073. 32 channels of neve 1081. A knif mastering suite and a great river mm20. All through lynx, burl, crane song and apogee. And that list of comps...

I'ts in Orange County. I don't know what the rates are in LA, but this may be a viable alternative for sessions on a cost basis vs recording in the city of Los Angeles and other smaller surrounding cities - Culver City, Burbank, Santa Monica etc. Maybe our LA based cohorts will weigh in.

$800 for 10 hours?!?!?!?!? How's that going to work long term? Good question, more and more places like this seam to be have a Buisness model similar to yours BUT, besides the primary revenue stream of the owners own work , they take some outside work that pays some of the bills.

$800 for 10 hours?!?!?!?!? How's that going to work long term? Not sure which side you are seeing that from, I'd guess getting so little. I'm almost surprised they are managing to get that much in what I 'think' that market is. All depends on engineer rep.

I'm almost surprised they are managing to get that much in what I 'think' that market is. All depends on engineer rep. It's on their site. And BTW, engineers are ADDITIONAL if you use one of theirs. I'd assume a second comes included with the day rate, but I can't confirm that. Rate card - www.masterrecordingstudios.com/rates-contactIn Orange County - Mortgage/Lease, amortizing buildout, electrical, maintenance and support staff would pretty much eat up everything they could make if booked pretty much constantly. And that doesn't figure in other capital investments. I can't imagine they can book 20+ days a month at full card. But who knows?? Maybe they can. They list a bunch of guys, so maybe they are all running sessions out of one place. Could work, but even at that, $800 a day in one of So Cal's most exclusive areas is not going to make a profit long term. The fact that they are even willing to book 3 hour sessions (minimum) tells me they can't stay booked at full card rate for days. man....whew....I wish them all the best. They are close enough to areas I frequent that I could use them from time to time. I hope they can keep it together long enough for me to use that place. It's beautiful, and sized pretty nicely for my needs.

Yeah just sayin some private rooms seam to be looking for outside work at stupid prices these days ! A Client was just offered a well equipped, but poorly designed room For acoustic instrements at an insane low rate because the owner producers was going to be out of town. It was pretty but , just couldn't get a good cello tone ! But the gear and the room looked good ! When I asked what they were charging all I was told is that our lunch bill wasn't much more than the day rate and we were eating at Panera!

That's insane Eric. I wouldn't rent out my private room for the $800 a day that MasterRecordingStudios asks. Much less for a lunch bill. Well, for a friend, maybe. But for me, it's just not worth being locked out of making money long term for a short term tiny bit of cash money.
Successful investment and entrepreneurial business models in music - in 2017 - does not include renting out studios for day rates - and especially for hourly. Just my $.02 opinion.

But if somebody is going to do it I'll gladly come along for a ride! Often I get the feeling these rates are an owner having downtime and covering at least some of the cost of staff, hard to keep good people. Also a lot of these websites showing off their private room is like a guy who drives a Ferrari to the mall, saw a SuperAmerica at Target 2 weeks ago all I could think of was the speed bumps were going to week the front splitter ).

Wow I dream of having studio and gear like this 🤤🤤🤤
I thought maybe the seven guys all pitched in together to get the place. Then when I looked at the individuals websites, it seem like 4-6 of them are still freelancing or have other studios they work out of as well. So then I was trying to figure out the gear.. Choice HW throughout...The console alone is $100,000 +. That doesn't factor the supposed 1.3 million dollar A room ( designed by Chris Pelonis has anyone heard his rooms ), The B room, 6 monitoring, conversion, Mastering console and room.
Well in California ( LA/ OC/ Bay/ Golden Triangle ) money grows on trees and branches forever. I think a master cannabis grower ( guru/ specialist/ top top shelf ) who loves music ( marijuana plants and plant growth responds well to music ) and music making ( probably is pretty good at an instrument or two ) who has wanted a real deal recording studio and this is his/ hers! That's literally what I think. I don't see how $$$ is being made from the music industry to come out the pocket with music capital for a studio startup. Idk, maybe if this were Adele's new studio build then I could understand....

GS member " mpr " posted saying he is one of the owners of this studio, he is the Mastering Engineer. Maybe we could invite him over here to speak on this lovely studio ...

Both Tom Brooks and Tony Guerrero have had a lot of success in the Christian Music field. Lots of money in that. This studio is located between Hope International University and Saddleback Church. I'm thinking "Master" may not be what we usually associate with recording.
