I tend to always take photo's of stuff I've just purchased for a couple of reasons, one of the things that dawned on me is just the sheer amount of stuff.! I mean it's ridiculous, some stuff I can't even remember having until I saw a photo of it.! At one point I had an Audient ID22??? Also can't deny some of it set off some GAS (keep your noses tight), did have an Axe FX 2 and kind of regret getting rid of it; now I keep eyeing up the Axe8.. I bought a hybrid mixer just to sell it and replace it with a hybrid mixer which I also sold? I mean seriously .. I do also regret selling a Laney amp, not only did it sound good but it was easy to record.. Although it got replaced with that rare vintage(ish) Engl below (dreamy), so it's not all bad, P.S after all the discussion on it that's my SM7B : So ladies and gents, does it shock you with the amount of stuff you've collected over the years? I mean these 4 photo's are out of 265 ..

I sort of think of studio gear as a semi-healthy form of hoarding. At least it looks that way to other people...

Uh, yes. I could probably set up 4 studios. Ain't it somewhat eye opening? I'll never question where all my money went.

I need to up mine and they were only willing to do an inland marine policy which was insanely expensive. It's because my gear comes and goes with me to other studios, so, it's leaving the premises at times. I am also going to start renting gear when I'm not using it to make it further pay for itself, so, I'd need insurance for that, too.

Randy find an independent agent, agents who are tied to one company don't offer many options. Lloyds will write a policy for just about anything, the cost might kill you! On the claims side while everybody else was waiting on their payouts after Ike I had my checks from Lloyds months before anybody else! I thank my lucky stars that my agent had all my policies through Lloyds!

Just yesterday, I was looking through old christmas photos I have on various hard drives and stumbled on many folders of gear I sold throughout the years. I'm told I have a sharp memory but there were items I barely remembered and a couple that I had no recollection of using. I often wonder how I got "this much" gear (which isn't a ton, but I'm still fortunate to have it). However, looking through old pics I can see how careful buying and selling has allowed steady upgrades over the years. There was no decadent splurging taking place, but slowly trading up, getting deals, repairing broken equipment, etc that allowed it to happen.
For the past few years I've put an emphasis on quality over quantity. Hasn't stopped these buggers from breeding though. Mic lockers seem to be a conducive environment for that.

And they have strong ties to Lloyds of London. They have an office near you, in Frankfort KY. But, my account manager is the one who set me up... so, I dunno. It seemed so straightforward and they handled it. And it's CHEAP. as in well under a half point a year.

The other quotes I received were for more than a new Zener Limiter per year, so, that wasn't gonna be an option.

I thank my lucky stars that my agent had all my policies through Lloyds! All of the independent agencies here were really expensive and after quoting me, they came back and said "we aren't able to do that policy after all", as it's an inland marine and they weren't allowed to do them. Much like my 12 passenger van insurance, they can't handle that either.

Insurance could well be considered by many to be, in part, a scam.

Insurance could well be considered by many to be, in part, a scam. Insurance is like lawyers, never want it / them, hope you never need it / them but if you do you only want the best! Kind of funny how that works. Sounds like it could be a scam If there are any lawyers on this board I hope you're not offended.

Unfortunately my contacts at American Family and others are all gone otherwise I would make some calls !

Insurance could well be considered by many to be, in part, a scam. Yeah until you have a couple of million in claims ! Then you realize it's worth every penny ! I remember my uncle bitching what he paid for insurance of his $500k house in Boca , well till I told him I paid more on my $150K place in Galveston! I was paying more and I was under insured ! Now I should have had a rider on the Guitars ! Now I have probably the most complete set of riders and constantly update everything ! My agent has a love hate relationship with me, she hates that I send her an email with pics and documentation every time I buy something! She loves that everything is documented in 4 places so if there is ever a claim, and I have been through the process!

Well it got people chatting, there didn't seem to be much going on around here in other threads.. Master plan succeeded (MWAHAHAH)>!
As much as I love breaking my bank account on a constant basis, there is only so much gear I can actually buy / drool over. Making songs takes time, so err yeah..! Some inane threads to the rescue..

Hey, did you ever get into using that Zed R 16? That's what I use on every mix it's, fun little hybrid machine. I used it for live tracking and IMO it was very good, when mixing it needed a larger track count for me.. Really could of done with at least 24, as soon as I saw that picture I gassed so much I had to leave the room. Went searching for a GSR-24 and realised they'd gone end of sale.. Can't find another hybrid analogue worth buying, well unless ericn wants to give me a bank loan. I think he used to be Captain Jack Sparrow, but it's just hearsay for now.. I'll get proof though, one day....
