I wish Kontakts multi-outputs included a few more steps for setup with any DAW. For example, drum routing takes me about an hr and I think a few more required steps should be added increasing this to more like an hr. 20 min. Geesh.. I want to be unmotivated and all interest lost by the time I have a basic drumset routed into DAW. Who's with me?

I'll jump on any train that's hatin' on Kontakt. I'll even take a great big FU NI in general after our brief interaction over OSX hardware compatibility earlier this year.
But, I also have never needed multiple outputs....

But, I also have never needed multiple outputs.... I like NI products, I just refuse to use any of the drumkits included in Komplete(or use any Kontakt 3rd party drums) because it's so hokey to route into DAW.

I own one thing I use as my go to in Kontakt. I own a couple older ones that have been functionally replaced....but, there's no replacement for Mojo Horns.

I'm so with you on this. I'm like this for all of my stuff. I hate wasting my life clicking on things.
this is the exact reason I bought ez drummer. because it was so damn complicated to do other cooler stuff, and practically nobody cares outside of these forums "how real" the drums sound. superior drummer is legit too, but even then it's too many steps from idea to mastering

I will point out that I'm quite sure you can configure that stuff and save it as track (or instrument) presets in Cubase. I mean, you shouldn't have to repeatedly do that. My new song template has Addictive Drums broken out into mono kick/snare and stereo everything else....
Doesn't make the Kontakt UI any less like a huge piece of crap....but, just do the drum kit routing and save it.

I'm with you on Kontakt. Perhaps the worst interface out there. Even so, I use their bass, organ and keys stuff.
It would be nice for all drum vst's to make multiple outputs easier.

I find it simple, but maybe I'm cheating. I'll program drums the way I want on ONE instantiation of a Kontakt drum kit. Then open up 2,3,4,5,6,7,8+ more instrument tracks with the same drum kit. Doesn't take any more ram. Then, I split notes on the midi track and paste them into a new track that's assigned to Kontakt #2, 3, 4, 5, 6, etc. which are routed thru internal busses or external hardware. Much easier than dealing with certain plugin architectures...

....but, just do the drum kit routing and save it. Exactly. I use Guru, running 4 instances set up to 32 audio tracks, 32 midi tracks, wired to 8 busses with my favourite fx already set-up... Just did it once, and saved as template.

So I have the option to route and store a preset for all of the drums included with Komplete, I understand this. Any other drums in a can this step is not required. You do have to route on the DAW side, but not the additional 4,879 steps required with Kontakt. Why not already have a factory Preset? Do they feel I need to put in more of an effort?

I went to test this for you....and realized I long ago threw away the separate Kontakt "8 out" and ""16 out" plug ins. I did, however, open BFD2 enable a bunch of outputs....save as a preset (at Cubase level)....and recalled it--the only thing it didn't recall was having to open the specific outs at the Cubase level, ironically. Which is just a few clicks*....still--I'd be willing to bet they've "fixed that glitch" in newer versions that have "rack presets"--all the routing internal to BFD2 was recalled, so I can't imagine why Kontakt's wouldn't be.
*and ONE click if you want to "enable all outputs".....but, that's like 32 for BFD2. I imagine the "kontakt 8 out" would simply enable 8, which is plenty, IMO, for a kit.
Work smarter....not harder, yo.

Work smarter....not harder, yo. Well, we all have different production values. One click is working smarter for me. Since I never know how many of the channels I want to use from SD2 for any particular mix, I'd rather push one button n SD2 and then slide the faders down that I don't want in Cubase and hide the channels in Cubase. Easier and faster than going back in SD2 and deciding I want something and routing it. I'd prefer everything in Cubase from the beginning and never leave that interface again, yo.
