It's similar to the email deal, but you get an annual license instead of a permanent license. Does anybody know what an annual license costs vs a permanent license? And what does an annual for any plugin license get you? A;; those plugins for a year at no extra charge?

ah isn't this just the new subscription plan ( i.e. no relab), somewhat discounted and no permanent license to one slate plug in (the last offer to early subscribers that ended a day ago)?

This is just the subscription deal at a discount that doesn't include a perpetual license. $150 for 1 year of all Slate plugs, as kcat said.

Yep, it's just the subscription deal for one year at a ~16% discount. Not a bad deal, given I was considering paying full boat to try it out for a year. - Wonder if that includes the iLok?

Think about the $1,000.00's paid by all of us and the new kids getting it all for so little. Very good deal for somebody starting out.

You guys get the new wonderful rock learning course that Slate will give you if you sign up for the sub plan through the offer in the first post! The course may be worth it as an add on for many in that genre! Good move Slate

Been playing with this all day and even watched a couple of the videos that came with the subscription. I threw the Virtual Tape and Console channels across an existing mix and it's a game changer for sure. That and I went right to the mastering tutorial video and started to replace some stock Logic plugs by slapping a number of Slates' on my 2-buss just for fun. No sooner did I do that, and I had to go back and re-mix/edit a number of tracks because some of them just popped so much. The clarity and way things are revealed in the space was palpably different. I had to get use to it because some of my tracks seemed too exposed. I was thinking - Jeeze, do I want to go back and re-record that? Am I missing the smear??
Anyway, Mr. Slate hosts the videos himself. I only watched 2 (of 8 I think?) and they're not nearly as laced with the PR side of Steven as you would expect. Yeah, there are a few "This is my favorite settings for this one," approaches, but that's fine. You gotta start somewhere. At least he explains why he does it the way he does, and offers a good bit of info on what some of the more proprietary knobs and sliders do. For a buck fifty I get to try this for a year; it totally makes sense that he shows late night and weekend warrior hacks like me how to use it all effectively. There's no question the honeymoon will last a while, but I'm pretty damn impressed. Even if something marginally better comes along, I'll be invested in my knowledge of how to use it. As long as the price doesn't go up, I'll be hard pressed to not cancel my subscription and if the price goes down - as it very well should if the competition makes a play for market share, it's pretty much guaranteed I'll keep it.
I didn't try many but the presets on a number of the plugs I tried seemed were very usable as starting points.
The Eiosis De-esser that comes with the package blows away what I was using just by virtue of the way it lets you see the frequencies where the sibilance is and how it's being processed.
The Black Friday 15% discount may not be that significant, but the value of the suite of plugs is undeniable. I haven't even gotten to the reverb, which I think comes with or has available Bricasti algos.

I finally got time to put it up and learned a lot about how to get results with Slate's plugs and mixing in general.

I thought this was a good drum mxing tutorial using Slate plugs and the CLA Drums plugin.
