I use it all the time! The JCM800 sounds like my 1983 JCM800. I've gotten some awesome tones, and no one has ever said any recordings I've done with it aren't with a real amp.
I use it with the spdif, and split left dry, right amped so I can then double amp it if I want with an eleven plugin. The tuner is handy, effects sound good, and the big muff sounds like a big muff!
Unless you're spending 2k for a kemper or an axe, you're not going to get better than this, and still I think it's marginal. I got the expansion pack btw, has a couple really good ampeg bass amps in it that I love.

I don't have one but my buddy Kato Khandwala uses one. He has kempers and fractals and a damned grotesque amp collection but he still uses his Eleven. I think he told me not to tell anyone. Ha. Oops.

I use mine on every single album I play on. It's a great unit at any price, but incredible value for what you can them for. Plus it's an interface, and a couple extra mic preamps, and a great tuner. And the best Vox AC30 emulator around.

You guys agree the Eleven rack is nice !!
I think the low price point scares people thinking its not as good as other emulators , but I think it nails the tones . I'm loving it and probably gonna sell my amps .

Paul Crook, guitar and MD for Meatloaf used an Eleven live a couple years ago, don't know if he still does.
I think amp modeling can and has sounded convincing, especially for cleaner amp tones. The first Line6 POD was mind-blowing, even as it sounds sorta snap-shot like today. But it's still a tone, an option, and could remain useful. Hey, in the late 70's, I thought drum machines would never catch on. I sold a Roland 808 after owning it for a couple years. That box had a swing that the sequenced sampled sounds never really duplicated.
I don't have any experience with the Eleven, so I have no business commenting on its worth. So, why this post? Cause I like this place.

People sell them used for 250! A lot of people buy them for the PT license and sell them without it, which stinks but I understand why. You can't beat the convenience though, plus the integration in PT really sells it. It'll keep the settings on the track and automatically switch them if you want, so you can work with multiple set ups really really easily.

I'm selling mine in the classifieds! Never even used it since I have a Kemper.... only bought it since it was bundled with pro tools. This thread is making me wonder if I should keep it.....

Is this a step up from the Scufham Sgear plug?
Cheers, Geoff

Ahh, I've done a few records with Kato. What a great dude! He's the guitar amp guru and yes has quite a nice collection. He was using the Fractal for Bass at the time, didn't see him run a guitar through it.

You can't argue with his guitar sounds tho. Arguing with Kato about anything would probably be a losing effort. ;-)

The one problem people have with amp sims is they say a real amp has the sound of "air movement" . But when comparing my real amp with the eleven rack I'm not hearing the missing air movement , I couldn't tell the difference if it was a real amp or the eleven rack .

Listen to the last motley crue record. Tell me it doesn't sound like guitar amps. The record was done solely with Eleven rack.

Wow , so that says a lot not just about amp sims but also the Eleven rack , because he could have used Axe FX or any of the other amp sims but used a $300 eleven rack . Eleven rack sounds pretty much dead on like a real amp and I don't think anybody could pick it out in a blind shoot out . So "air movement" I guess can be emulated .

I'm sure they were paid to advertise the use of it to be an example of showing that it's worth a pro recording. Mick Mars didn't turn it down, knowing it could possibly be the last Crue record, you would want to make sure you're going out with a bang, and he had no problem with it!

I've been hearing the voices in my head to sell my Kemper and go with an amp...I guess I have to go through this every year...I should probably just ignore...You guys seen those Roland Cubes with the different "tubes" you stick in that have different models?

Johnkenn, Did you know you can get a used Eleven Rack for $180 used on Reverb.com right now? There's all your modeling taken care of, and you can sell the Kemper and buy TWO amps!! BTW, the newish Fender Blues Cube sounds really good.

Every time I try something different in the non-amp department I come away severely disappointed (compared to the Kemper) Me too. I haven't tried the Eleven, or the Fractal (I did at NAMM, through a wedge PA speaker, based on that I thought the Kemper killed it) or many of the software emu's out there. I did try and buy the UAD Friedman Amp models. They sound great. The Fractal sounded great. Hear it on a recording, YOU are gonna say, hey, that's not a real Marshall? Point is, there's many ways to get a convincing guitar/amp performance into a DAW these days. Almost to a point the only reason to retain and record a collection of real amps is to have the luxury of your own studio, or have a speaker box that you can reduce the dB's, or go into a load box like the Two-Notes Torpedo which retains the behavior of your own amp, and gives you options of cabs and microphones before/after the fact. I like the Kemper for reasons said here before. But I've never reamped anything. I'm good with what I originally went in with. Pro AE's today may need more options with their clients. Tracks are cheap with DAWS.
