I think Pleiades may be drinking a bit too much Ouzo these days.

Look at all his auctions... WTF. Do they have no limit to what they let you sell for (Looks like Johnken's VK card may not even offer enough credit)

Used to love selling on Ebay... You could put up almost anything of quality, and if your pricing was fair, you'd always find a buyer... But with these new charges, there's no way I'm giving them 10%, and another 4 to Paypal...
A lot of these guys are the same. They just use Ebay to run cheap ads, looking for offsite buyers at real prices

In Greece if you don't have the money to pay road tolls it seems you get another option. I wonder if this also applies to the sale of goods? However I think I have enough preamps at the moment so I'll pass if you don't mind.

Ridiculous.
And what the heck EF183 for an exceptional mic pre? Really? AFAIK these are control tubes that might be used better as "THD generators" in a distortion box ....? A handful of parts point2point, a small input toroid and of course no psu parts due to batteries...? Are they kidding? How much ouzo do you have to drink to actually BUY this?

Damn! There seems to be only one, and of course I would want two for stereo.
Edit: Yes, I liked my own post. Sue me! Actually, I didn't know you could do that.

LesC : This may be the solution to the stereo problem, and MAYBE you can save at least A FEW bucks going the DIY route instead of asking him to build another one for you ... ;-) He was so kind to give his design to the public domain. Considering the end price of the product, this was an extremely generous donation to pro-audio world. The cores he uses for his self-wound transformers are german Magnepan 073, btw.. schematics: flic.kr/p/Baazk4I was tempted to post a link to his blog, but i guess i can not take the responsibility to do this because of his other interesting but a bit dubious posts, like how to get rid of cancer in 40 days by just eating vegetables and drinking fruit juice. (No joke, unfortunately...)

@smallbutfine
Yes, it's easy to ascertain from the original picture that this is an extremely complex piece of equipment. The man is obviously a genius. All of those very expensive parts, plus all that soldering, plus all the detail that went into that case, wow, and worldwide shipping is included! Holy cow, someone should snap this up before he comes to his senses and decides to keep this game-changing technology to himself.

he's obviously just paying it forward. out of the goodness of his heart. I frankly, am extremely whelmed by this unabashed display of sheer altruism. there is hope for the human race. if only more people were like him. you don't see such selflessness everyday. the sacrifice that he is putting himself up to experience, if it actually sells, and he can't use it anymore. and the free shipping, on top of it all. truly noble, by any measure. I am a little surprised he's offering it this cheap. certainly he could be asking far more. ah, the charitable generosity of it all.

Hm. Hmmm. Hahaha, i am really tempted to build one. Only to tell people i built a mobile pre ("probably the best one in the world!") that costs as much as a good vintage console - in a better quality than the original one!
OK, it seems he is really a very motivated DIY guy who tries to win the ebay lottery. Seems legit. BTW, he also has a low cost version of this pre - a version with only one EF183 instead of two ... for those who can not afford the full blown design. Or who are unsure, if they can handle the complicated full DIY build.

He was so kind to give his design to the public domain. schematics: flic.kr/p/Baazk4 Wait a second... the bastard braided 2 and 3 on both input and outputs leading us to need clarification before proceeding. I don't know about anybody else but I'll NEVER figure that out now. UGHH!!!

Ah, i knew i missed something. D'oh! Obviously a kind of copy protection, like potted components. Renders the schematic pretty useless.

I love the subtle artistic touches like paint marker writing, and extra unfilled holes on the chassis. I think it's just a 12 year old trying to get rich.
