I fell out of love with my Event 2030's today

I have a pair of Presonus Sceptre 6 that's I use at home. I don't know if it's the speakers or the way I have the room treated but I do my best mixing in that room.

I'm surprised Event doesn't have parts any more. I ran into that with a pair of M-Audio EX66 speakers, which were nice monitors but a tweeter blew and it took about 6 months to track one down.

If you love them and are used to them maybe try to find a single unit somewhere and have it for parts.

Pop open the failed box, and remove the tweeter – get some measurements for sizing, and order a suitable replacement from Vifa. Obviously get a pair, and swap out both tweeters so your imaging stays the same.

Do they actually manufacture their own tweeters? I would ask them.

Typically you can order a pair of tweeters or a close replacement model from the OEM.

I did this with my monitors when one blew out, and they sounded even better after.

Any speaker maker needs to have a resource for this, as tweeters can blow out pretty easily, and it's pretty standard to replace them anyway every some odd years.

I'm told by a Event fan they sound as good if not better so Joseph was right!

Not trying to defend Event but many have been caught with their pants down when an OEM suddenly discontinues a driver, now in this day in age if the Speaker Manufacturer really cares and has the funds for a large parts run they could get somebody in China to reverse engineer the tweeter. I keep hearing how Copies Made in China are far more consistent than many very highly respected Manufacturers, I'm talking an almost zero reject rate, compared to 50% for some very persnickety high end Consumer builders!

Attachment DeletedI have these custom boxes made by my friend John Mueller that are really just great PA boxes. They consist of top boxes that are 2 eights and a horn on top of a single 12 sub per side. I use them like portable far fields when I want to rock out and impress the band. The thing is they are so fun to listen to. I have mixed on them before but they are far from flat and I tend to feel them loud cause it feels good. I have been fighting the urge to use them more regularly. I might talk to John and see if he can cater them to a closer field type of listening or maybe he could switch out my tweeters for me if I find a match.

Here's the update gents. I just got my mid high assembly back from Speakerexchange today and re-installed it. Thoughts; Speaker exchange provided outstanding service. good communications and less than a week turn around. The tweeter sounds pretty good. My subjective first impressions are that the new tweeter sounds a little hotter or a little brighter than the factory tweeter. Not worse, maybe better but not as smooth as the original. My question is does a tweeter have a break in period? Should I let it work in for a few days or is that less of a deal for a tweeter. I know that the guys at Speaker Exchange would be more than happy to answer these questions I just wanted to get a general feel. It probably makes sense to have the other one replaced/rebuilt but that's another $120 so if I didn't have to spend it it would be cool.

All that to say I really like my Events. They sound good and maybe it's what I'm used to but I like the way they sound in my room.

For a coaxial design you might consider the equator d6 or d8. The company was started by Ted Keffalo, one of the original founders of Event. However, unlike Event, Equator has good customer service IME, and there's a good chance Ted will pick up the phone when you call.

I had a pair of Event precision 6's and when the power amp went out shortly after the warranty expired, I couldn't get a replacement part. Seems like a very common story unfortunately.

Some speakers do require a break in period.
I recall reviews performed on high end speakers where they were allowed to run continuously for two to three days prior to listening evaluations.
I believe that a certain frequency was run through them but you would hav eto google that.

I had to resort to the tissue paper "mod" on my Polk RTi A3. It made me feel better when I saw Vance Powell mixing on his NS10s the same way. Whatever works, ya know.

Right now I'm listening to some JBL LSR305 and these things are the real deal. I'm still in the honeymoon phase, but I want to say, don't let the low price scare you.
