Any tips on sound proofing a door , mainly the gaps around the door , and at the bottom .

You need to use a raised sill plate, so that the entire edge of the door gets sealed against the stops. Use a steel door and use magnetic seals. Those are the cheapest options.

silicone seals are best, they're smoke rated, and stop air exchange... Tony is right on this one but let me add. If you have a nice solid core door that's fire rated check the tag and see if the manufacturer has a soundproofing kit!
