This is just a bubble... and like all bubbles, it will -eventually- burst.

Because, what the world needs is ANOTHER format people don't want to buy.
The vinyl resurgence is hindered by the "bottleneck" of 60s tech? Um....it literally IS 60s tech. We had the "bottleneck free" new tech platform in 2000. It was even backwards compatible with the installed base of redbook players. No....one....bought. Calling it vinyl doesn't help.
Does this new "vinyl" sound better than the 24/96 file that we created that then it was created FROM? If not, we care why? That in a day and age when independent artists can deliver 24/96 to their fans directly....and most fans actually have a way to play it back (even my 9 year old iMac has 24/96 audio)...with 99.9% profit margin directly to the artist, we want to invent a new FORMAT that involves pressing plastic hunks and the logistics of shipping and returning and maintaining stock all over the world? Um....this benefits whom?

I can go on youtube and listen to ANYTHING I want for FREE !!
That means the whole Tower Record's Library for FREE playing on any device I want .
Until they shutdown youtube , nothing will save the music industry .

I can go on youtube and listen to ANYTHING I want for FREE !! That means the whole Tower Record's Library for FREE playing on any device I want . Until they shutdown youtube , nothing will save the music industry . Shutting down YouTube (Google owned) wouldn't help. Another would just pop up in it's place. The problem is at the core of humans. It seems we have evolved into devaluation of everything. We pay the bare minimum, which is in essence, paying our internet providers for the service to connect. From there, it is all free. WHY? Because labels, owners, TV networks, movie studios all allow their content to be streamed for free so they sell a few ads and make a little money instead of a lot. I guess they figure, if it's going to be bootlegged anyway, might as well make a little while were at it? It's a shame though. No one can make a great living with this model. The only people making money in this scenario is the advertisers. Imagine that. They use our shit for free to sell their shit for profit. Capitalism at it's best.

Until we decide to value intellectual property, art will not be profitable.

Until we decide to value intellectual property, art will not be profitable. Well that will never happen . I never really liked the internet . I think life was much better before and people were happier .

We had 3 channels and every time the wind would blow I'd have to climb the mountain to put the antena back up:)

As far as vinyl technology was concerned direct to disc recordings were the pinnacle of the medium back in the day. No multi generational tape transfers... in fact no tape at all! The next best thing was "half speed mastering" where the master tape and cutting lathe were run at half speed which was supposed to produce more accurate cutting of the master laquer disc especially in relation to high frequency resolution and supposedly improved dynamic range. Of course don't be fooled by someone mentioning "half speed mastered direct to disc" in the one sentence. Unless of course the band is able to play at half time and tuned down an octave.

We aren't funding the right politicians, clearly. Maybe the music industry can set up its own Super-PAC and we can start funding corrupt politicians to actually enforce copyright laws? They've succeeded in Japan, Singapore and Thailand.
