I'll bet a Trident A-Range runs circles around it!

I have a friend who use to own one.. I worked on it sometimes, it had an amazing musical sound.. but i feel it was originally badly designed..
Every knob and inner module rail on this model are cheap thin plastic and can crack due to age, the cards in the bottom section are hung upside down and and come loose so module reseating is required, it runs 6 power supplies and runs warm so caps go / channels go out or lower volume overnight.. the L/R dial and switches can get scratchy on every channel if they aren't used enough.
You need to know some basic electronics and parts to order to be on top of it at all times..
Techs love this board..
They are over 40 years old..
I would rather just use one at a studio who has a full time tech on hand for a few hundred bucks..

More than one house. One to buy it, then another for the cabling to hook it up..

I briefly enquired about a Neve 1028 console three years ago. It was fitted with a 28 micpres that were variation of the 1081. It was a TV broadcast console so was not exactly configured for multitrack recording. The asking price was $120,000 USD.
It's easy to get caught up in the "Neve must have!" mentality but it was way beyond my budget let alone the power consumption and maintenance issues.
In the end I bought a Neotek Elite instead and we make do with one Neve 3115 pre/EQ with a Phoenix Audio Class 'A' output stage mod, pair of Heritage Audio 8173's and four Seventh Circle Audio N72's.
However recently after using the 3115 on several projects I find myself lusting after a rack full of Neve 3114's as I really like the punch and presence of the 3115's and the 3114's more flexible EQ would be great.
Hmmm must start taking my meds again!!!

As beautiful as this console is, a bunch of BAE 1028s and 1073s gives me enough of that Neve flavor. And I get to keep the house.
