Ordered an Origin. Cheap enough that it was worth a shot.

I've heard some extremely positive things regarding those mics... impressed a lot of people and also has a true 1" capsule. Hell of a deal and sexy looking mic.

Tagging kidvybes on this one. I think I read somewhere that someone had compared the Aston mics with the 3U stuff, and ended up keeping the 3U. I bit the bullet on a pair of the MKID's.

Every piece of gear I buy based on discussion and advice here ends up being a winner.
Ergo, when I finally get through the new studio build, I'll be picking up one or three of these.

I had the same thought when I received the VK email today. I'd be curious as to how these sound.

Do read the thoughts of the guy who compared both in the links I provided above...I may have to send you a couple of these for your opinion...the 3U GZ-series mics ($599) are holding their own with some serious custom clone variants...

KV and I probably sound like broken records but, seriously, he's right. The 3U stuff has kicked some much more expensive mics outta my locker. I've got five 3U mics here now. It's the real deal. Doesn't mean the Aston mics aren't good too. I have no experience with them. Anyone seen under the hood? What are the circuits like?
