I have 16 spare iLok 4 units I'm selling for those who need one, $1700 each. The new iLok4 requires an Apple Desktop BUS. They won't plug into a USB port. I have ADB to USB adapters available for $999. For UNDER $2700 you can get PT13 unlocked and usable.
Just PM for setting up your order in advance.

PT 13 is particularly good at capturing the transients of the sound of claws scuttling across the ocean floor, at least, according to J. Alfred

Pt13 sounds better than other daws. Its how it became the industry standard. I wonder when Behringer goes for avid. That's a star crossed crazed couplet if there ever was one. With midas preamps of course.

I wonder when Behringer goes for avid. I can't believe you used the 'B word'! On more realistic note, if Apple doesn't get it first, it's only a matter of time!

I don't think apple would buy Avid. If they did, they would have two competing pieces of software under their umbrella: ProTools and Logic/Mainstage. Avid Media Composer and Final Cut Pro.
I'm trying to think of who else might consider scooping up Avid, should Avid go up for sale. Behringer could. what about Mackie? are they big enough? What about Google or Adobe? What's Avid's current value? $300 million?

Focusrite they already have a relationship I can see that working nicely, actually. As long as they ditch the video/avid unit.

Although the article takes pains to point out that it's satirical, I think it's really quite important. It's easy to complain about the costs of workstations, plugins, interfaces and so on. But it's also important to see how very far we've come in the last fifteen years or so. This stuff used to be really expensive and I'll bet there's not a graybeard among us who didn't agonize about whether to save a reel of tape or stick it on the bulk eraser for one more go. Now you can save hundreds of track-hours on a hard disk that costs less than a hundred bucks.
