Dan is great. Amazing player. Especially love the LA phase of his career. I know he's (obviously) busy in N'ville, but when he left LA he kind of fell off the mainstream radar and I lost track of him.... Thx for the vid's.

I know he's on the radar big time in Nville, I was talking more about the LA studio scene of players.... Once a huge part of that, then gone... Amazing talent. Especially as a guitarist. No matter where he ended up he would be huge.

I'm sure Mick Jones and Lou Grammatico appreciate the "bite" here whether you're "standing in the rain" or not this was such a great "LA-Rock" song when it came out. Had a little "Ice Cream Man" kicking too.

Dan is cool, that vid of his cool jam led me to this, not meant to take anything away from him, but damn! #1 guitarist for me. No one has ever sounded like Beck and no has ever effectively pulled off his tone. Eric Johnson certainly came close at times, but with Beck it just pours out of every fiber of his being and you can feel it. I've learned Jeff Beck tunes, but I would never attempt to change them. That's just messing around with perfection. To me. IMHO but YMMV. Dan Huff, on the other hand, is one heckuva a great producer and put the drive back in country!

I can really hear the vibe of that Gaint song in a lot of Brantley Gilbert's stuff. That acoustic riff for sure.

Great Dann Huff stuff.
I have a Dave Tough (the interviewer) story: There was a GML 8200 listing on GS. Understandably, with that kind of vintage gear and the price I was concerned that I could get a bad, or won out/banged up piece of gear. I communicate with the seller and he tells me his name is Dave Tough. So, I start researching and find out it's this Dave Tough doing this interview. Turns out he was a great seller (gave me 30 days to try it) who was easy to deal with as I made him sign a contract before I'd send him the PayPal money. The gear was in perfect shape and he was a real gentleman. Good guy.

Dan Huff made me want to listen to what was on country radio with his work with Keith Urban. He subtley blended country and rock music in a fresh and wonderful way. Then, as the trend became more and more narrow lyrically (truck, barn, that's how we roll etc. etc.) with bro country, I stopped listening completely as the lyrics and music was like getting hit by a sledgehammer. I know there's exceptions-and hope for you country guys that the bro country thing is passing- but the bro country thing is just like, if not worse, than the worst excesses from the hair bands thing from the 80's.

Had a little "Ice Cream Man" kicking too. Speaking of Lou Grammatico: My friend's band is opening for him at The Coach House in San Juan Capistano in March. Hoping to get to meet him that night. "He's a juke box hero.....".

Dan is cool, that vid of his cool jam led me to this, not meant to take anything away from him, but damn! Agreed. Dann Huff is amazing. However, the only person that should play Jeff Beck tunes, is Jeff Beck. He has too much of a signature sound that no one can touch IMO.

Underwood is my lady. Love her. Back off..... I've had a deal with my wife since the day we said " I DO " that if Carrie were to ever want me, I would be leaving her and however many kids we have. I've assured her that financially she's going to want me to go. The woman has legs that were physically chiseled by God himself.

Dan Huff made me want to listen to what was on country radio with his work with Keith Urban. He subtley blended country and rock music in a fresh and wonderful way. Would love to have seen what he would have done - production wise - if he'd stayed in LA and focused on more rock oriented acts. I mean, the country thing (with his infused rodk-isms) is cool, and obviously NVille is in his roots, but I still can't help but wonder......."what if"......
