What I want isn't gear. I want to be able to listen to tracks and simply mix them by feel into something wonderful. As it stands, I agonize over mixes, redo them a hundred times, listen to them everywhere and get to a point where I can no longer hear the differences. I want to stop that, and just flow with the tracks, but it's hard. To put it in perspective, I read a lot of top guys like CLA, Andy Wallace, etc.. They talk about mixing a song a day, maybe in 3-4 hours.. And here I am spending days to weeks on single songs to get things just right... I cant tell you how much this resonates with me. I've gotten so bad ive rerecorded whole songs several times in my pursuit for some unobtainable perfection. I am no doubt my own worse critic but it just doesn't feel 'there'. The ah-ha thats it. Other people's music is easier but if i start fetting the tunnel vision i gotta be careful.

I want the LA2A, Regular John Compressor and Stam SSL 4000 to get here in time for the work I've been commissioned for. Other than that I want a transient designer, distressor and to finally jump into 500 series stuff. Pair of missing links, IGS Pultec, Elysia Karacter, Retro Doublewide and another Stam LA2A are all calling my name. Want to check out those Warbler mics as a lot of people are saying wonderful things, maybe this year as it marks the tenth year of doing this I'll finally get a ribbon mic. We will see how much work I end up doing.

Still my favorite compressor is the la2a. Damn everything that goes through it sounds just great. Its hard not to use them. If i had five id use five. I'm excited for reviews on the stam stuff.

Only thing on my wishlist this year is my jeromemason built 251, which is currently with Shannon getting some capsule and body/headbasket love. I am drooling with anticipation here! Got a lot of very cool sessions and video shoots coming up that I would love to have this mic on! Good things to those who wait, or something like that... Merry Christmas, y'all. I'm on. It honest

I found an API 5500 just before Christmas and a mint 1972 U87, re-skinned by Siegfried Thiersch, yesterday. Other than that, I wish for Tony to get his room ready. Rock on bro! And a Happy New Year to everyone in this cozy little community. Here's to a great 2016 for all of us.
