We replaced a bunch of Sony MDR-7506's with Beyer DT770's. The Sony's were pretty much cactus anyway.
A couple of sets of 7506's got somewhat destroyed during a mixdown when the tape lifters on our old 1" 8-track didn't quite 'lift' enough and I'd forgotten to kill the studio headphone cue amp.
During fast wind the O/P level of the 8-track got a bit much for the Sony's and wound up overdriving them.
The Beyer's are more robust and less hyped in the top end than the Sonys.
These days I can barley stand listening to MDR-7506's which seems odd as I used to think they were great.
I think the Sony's sound does change quite a bit as they age. I noticed some of ours became quite tinny probably due to getting fairly hammered over the years.
We also have one pair of Extreme Isolation headphones but they never get used as they sound decidedly 'lo-fi' compared to the Beyers.

I use AKG K702 for critical listening, absolutely love them.
ATH-M50 for closed back. Everybody seems to like these.

(manufactured by the same factory that makes many of the popular AKG headphones) They look identical to K-240s except they look closed behind the transducer, which might make them better for tracking.

Yes, I had the K271 MKII before, and after comparing them, I promptly sold the 271s...these have 50mm drivers, a very nice open sound-stage and more top and bottom extension...my only complaint is they may be slightly deceptive in that the bottom seems a touch pronounced...but they are incredibly comfortable, with good isolation and a sense that they are open-back, even though they are closed-back...at this price, they make a great alternate set of headphones to be paired with your standards...

Only 2 I've ever had are Sony 7506's and ATH-50's. The Sony's are very tinny compared to the Audio Technicas. I mainly use the ATH-50's almost exclusively except tracking vocals with my AEA R84... Makes me like what is in the cans when singing with a darker mic like the AEA.

My brother and I use the headphones that he got a few months ago. They are affordable full size headphones that provide great fit and comfort and quality sound, we enjoy listening music using those. He got a good deal online.

I like my sen hd650. Nice low end. But they are open back so great for mixing/listening, not so great for tracking.
