The thread on the real Wurly made me think about this...Seems like there was a Red Tape one or something that was really good.

I remember one for the exs 24 that sounded very good but forgot its name. But I also like to use the Evp 88 into a cabinet IR from there into the Klanghelm SDRR sounds good for my taste, ad some compression by MJUC to shape of some transients, or use a good tape emu on it voilla...no need to buy something new.

I was lucky enough to have had a friend with limited space, leave an A200 at my place for almost 3 years. I've checked out a lot of the contenders and Tubed Wurli by Sampletek sounds the closest to what I remember that A200 to sound like. Did you ever smell something you haven't smelled in a long time, but your senses automatically remember it? That's how I felt with Tubed Wurli. It makes sense too, because they sampled it through a Fender Twin Reverb, which is exactly what I did when it was here. Here's a little sample to check out, with an added bonus, perhaps... I was testing the new Reverberate2 Bricasti Fusion IR's against the real thing. So I thought it might be helpful and/or fun (but not scientific) to do 8 bars dry, and then two passes with either the real M7 or Reverberate 2. But.. I'm not saying which is which! I used the same preset in both. Sorry for the crude playing! Also, I couldn't figure out how to load the file so that you could just click and play it without going through Soundcloud, and I thought the additional "magic" that Soundcloud adds would hurt the example. I have the real thing. A lot of the emulators and samples sound 'better' on their own, but nothing matches a real Wurly in a mix.

The Nord's Wurli sounds are hard to beat!

Scarbee's Wurli I liked a lot--didn't like having to run it at like 32 (maybe 64) samples to respond like I wanted, but...I prefer the Kronos EP1 engine due to it being half sample half modelled--you can adjust the hammer attack with the joystick....which means you can put it into an amp and dial in just what the amp needs to break up like you want.
But, I probably am not the one to ask. I think Wurli is pretty easy, as it's a REALLY bland sound, and ultimately is more about what it's run through--unlike a Rhodes, that has way more touch sensitivity and tonal change, IMO. Lots of things work as long as they go out to a tube amp. EVP88....Kurzweil Vintage EP board....Scarbee (Kontakt)....Kronos....I've used a lot of EP stuff in the last 15 years.

I really like my Arturia Wurlitzer-V. I think it sounds quite nice.
The V Collection is on sale right now for $199 and you get a whole lot more than just the wurlitzer.
Although in my anti-software instrument real world practice I just push the button on my Yamaha CP33 when I need that sound, which is not too often.

The Nord's Wurli sounds are hard to beat! True. They're very complex models complete with a lot of the 'flaws' that make an EP200 sounds brilliant.

Respectfully disagree. The Nords with both Wurlitzer and Rhodes have a terrible top dynamic--it pings like a 90s cheesey EP. Which makes the amp break up nicely if you're running it through a tube amp...but, if not, it's really inauthentic. They do sound lovely until you hit it hard, though. Maybe you can program that out....i was shopping specifically for an EP machine, and Nord couldn't touch the Kronos's engine. it was debatable whether it was as good as the newish Kurzweil stage pianos....and certainly not on par with a CP4. They'll be fine through and amp--but, that was kinda my point about Wurlitzer--they all work fine though and amp--it's a really technically simple sound--like a Hammond organ, which is easily emulated--so long as it's running through a tube Leslie.
