Is anyone participating in this? $400 for the conversion from an APEX 460, extra $100 for a Cinemag T14 Transformer (that's Transfo in Australian)
In honor of AES, we are conducting a JJ Audio Dutch Group Buy starting officially NOW!
You need to supply the donor body (Apex 460 retails anywhere used from $150 to new at $249).
You send in the donor body, the PSU and nothing else. No case, no shockmount, no cables.
We will install a premium K12 capsule, the JJ Audio Dutch 251 circuit using high quality capacitors, resistors and high quality wiring. We will also rebuild your PSU. In addition we will also powder coat the body a special custom color that we are adding to our choices.
What you will receive in your mailbox is going to be a JJ Audio Dutch! The 251 circuit is famous, sounds absolutely marvelous and is a tool any musician/recording engineer/record producer should have at least one or a pair of. Brad McGowan of Louder Than Liftoff has a pair of mics we turned into JJ Audio Dutch 251 and he raves about their quality.
This groupbuy fee in honor of AES 2015 is only $400 per mod! Send in as many donor bodies as you like, if you want a pair or just one, make sure you hop on this. This is the CHEAPEST way to get a bonafide 251 circuit EVER.
For those of you seeking the ultimate we are also offering a transformer upgrade for an additional $100 using Cinemag's infamous new T14 that sounds excellent. It is not necessary to get a transformer upgrade however if you want a completely rebuilt microphone, then the last piece is the output transformer. The 251 with the stock transformer will still sound excellent so do not be discouraged this mod is the one that started them all. Why buy a kit and hire a tech when for the price of the kit and the parts you'll have a completely finished 251? Cheaper than a couple of weekends out on the town!
