10.9.5 on Chrome 46 here. Can't remember the last time I had to log in. Smooth sailing.

I have my browser set to delete cookies and cache when I quit, so I have to re-login every time I quit the browser.

I frequently delete cache & cookies and only login to post. Regularly delete the temp folder contents too. Just the way to fly these days.

This is a buggy site. My mainframe cannot log in. I get flashing and it sticks. I'm using a laptop and even that needs to log in every visit.
I noticed a bar on the mainframe has a "Apple wants to load quicktime". I don't use any apple products here so I won't do that.
This has become tiresome for me. If you don't see me posting here you will know why, nothing personal but the technical problems here prevent my participation.

Sorry to see you go, but I don't know what I can do to fix the problems you're having. No one else seems to be having any problems.

I don't use Apple stuff for the web either, but I don't experience Quicktime notifications in the Browser. I did find a bug with the 64 bit Pale Moon browser (Firefox clone) on some vids that John posted from his iPhone. It wouldn't play them, but Firefox played them fine. Maybe you have a browser bug or missing codecs?

You can download an independent codec pack for your OS platform that may cure the problem.

"my mainframe"....? So, computer not running Microsoft, Apple, or Google OS? I was looking at this thread to chime in that I seem to be constantly "being logged out" on my elderly iPad2/iOS8.Sompin/Safari....and the site flickers--I would guess it's the host software's difference in Flash and HTML5....but, I honestly don't surf much on that old guy, so....OSX.7/OSX.8 machines with Chrome are fine. I don't typically use Safari, for the lack of sandboxing. on iOS Chrome sucks--I figure that's some intentional thing to make Android look better. And don't surf on the Windows DAW at all--not even plugged in full time to the network. I plug it in ethernet and back up to a NAS periodically.... So, next time I'm on the iPad, I'll log in again....but, I DID stop logging in there because it would never "stay". So if I want to comment, I get off my ass and go to an actual computer which DO all stay fine.
