They've tracked albums in peoples garages, record live and use all vintage instruments. Pretty rare.

I saw him during the Full Moon Fever Tour...
Every single note including every guitar solo was verbatim from the records...which I found disappointing...as a musician I would have at least thought that Campbell would have wanted to stretch out even minimally during a solo or two...
My overall impression was of a guy taking his briefcase and going to work..
Since then I've just stuck to the discs. Can't argue with his success though....

Tom was hiiiiiigggghhhh though I wonder if it's part of the act, or maybe just his personality. Some people always seem to be under the influence. That can be a good thing, or it can be a bad thing . . .

Honestly, I can't imagine doing a show drunk or high...of course, I know people do it all the time...and if you've been doing it as long as him, I would venture to guess you'd be pretty good at it. This is the first time I've ever seen them live, but from the live footage I've seen, he sure seemed a lot happier and more free-loving. He would twirl around with his hands up and after every third song come up to the mic and be like Taylor Swift - "Oh, wow...thank you all soooo much"...He said, "Tell all your baby sitters you're gonna be late, because this guy looks high and a little spacey and he might go on for hours..."
I'm not besmirching the guy - the show was fantastic and he was dead on the whole night. They stayed relatively true to the records - which I actually like - nothing I hate worse than a band coming out and deciding to totally rearrange their big rock hit with a panflute and accordions.

I met him at a party after the premier of the movie "Punch Drunk Love" at the NY Film Festival in 2002. I had a brief story to tell him, I'd seen his first show in NY at CBGB by accident. Now, maybe 15-20 people were there, just the crowd who hung out, so it was highly unlikely he'd ever met anyone who was there, so I thought he'd have some kind of interest or reaction, but he was deadpan indifferent. I know some folks who know, and he was smacked out. It was a bummer. I saw his previous NY show around 4 years ago, and it was superb. I wish him well, he's great artist.

It's nice to be able to see the whole stage, the sides are usually all cluttered up.

Yeah - I was kind of blown away with his singing...and Mike Campbell is by far my favorite guitar player alive right now.

One of my favorite things about Ferrone is that he will play the groove forever and make you WAIT for a fill...and you wait. And when he finally gives you one, it's perfect. And it's immensely satisfying because of how he built up to it...
