Been interested in these, Since I see your in KC it might be cool to get togather and check some stuff out. I have always wondered how these compare to my 4 little Blondies and 2 custom Purple Heart Blondies .

Well, I've certainly heard the expression 'tin can sound' a few times in my career... perhaps I'll have a use for old emptied out tins of peas and beans etc and come out with a line of headphones called "Tin cans".
Just as legit.

Hey masteroftracks, did you get these in yet? How are you liking them? How do they compare to other mics that you've used? Thoughts/impressions? Thanks man!

I only have one RED12 and find it nice and useful. Some things I've used it on: drums, some electric guitars, background vocals. I can manage to upload a couple of files tomorrow on drums of the RED12.

Very curious about the Black212. A stereo mic for $80---hard to beat that if it sounds good. Could be a great ambient room mic. Anyone tried it out?

https%3A//soundcloud.com/baquinmandril/red12-drums Well I only could upload 1 file, but that's the way I use the RED12 on drums. The kit wasn't really tuned but you get the idea as I was in a rush (seems I'm always in a rush). Anyway the chain was simple: RED12-NEVE 1073LB-Motu 828 mk2. The Neve was on 30 dB and +5 Trim. If you hear some distortion, it's the snare wires in sympathetic vibration with the toms. I hope this could help in some way.

I just ordered a red, 2 green, and 2 blue. Cheap enough to to give them a shot (pun intended).

Those horns sounded fantastic! I used a pair of blues as rooms for a while, but since combining my gear with my studio partner, they've sad in a drawer unused.

I have a blue 12 that I use for room mics, I've never totally understood what people are putting these glorious expensive mics on sources that they are going to utterly mangle later.

I've been thinking about getting a boxed set of these. Has anyone used the Green on drums? Does it distort fairly quickly? I'm thinking 2 Green, 2 Blue, and one Red for drums and room mics.
