As many know, I have the Dynaudio LYD48 monitors and really like them a lot. They are the best monitors I've used. Well, I've always wondered about the Core 59 monitors and wondered how much better they might be than the LYD48. The two things that put me off were the size and the cost. I wondered if they might be too big for my 9.5' x 19' mixing room. I honestly don't have any real complaints about the LYD48's. It's more just knowing there may be something a bit better that might help me make decisions quicker.
I've done research about them for over a year. More than once, I've had them in a cart to buy but just didn't go through with it. The price in the US is roughly $3150 per speaker. I was messing about this morning (more research) and found that Thomann has them for $2399. That makes it a lot easier to pull the trigger.
For those that have worked with the Core 59, is it too big for my mixing room?
Any regrets?
Danny wrote a whole lot about them and was a great help. Anyone else with experience with the Core 59.
PS: I'm only interested in the Core 59 vs LYD48. Don't confuse me with options. I love the sound of Dynaudio speakers. That's my only option.

Current Dynaudio distribution sucks and they’re not able to support what remains of the “pro” market here in the US. I tried to buy the core 7s a couple of years back and was unable to from multiple retailers and hifi dealers. Check out ATC, Genelec, and Focal.

I already placed the order with Thomann, who said they will arrive in Chicago next Wednesday. I'm a super huge fan of Dynaudio monitors. The Core 59 was really the only monitor I was interested in. I love the LYD48, but if I get a deeper and tighter low-end from the Core 59, I will be completely happy. The thought that the price would drop after I just bought them is unsettling, but I can always return them within 30 days.

Of course they’ll probably be better (Lyds were not nearly as good as bm and m Dynaudios ime) but so much of the low end is room and system dependent and translation is more about technique and knowing what works for many sounds over a car, pa, cheap sub, expensive sub, than knowing what it really sounds like, which helps a lot but you need a lot of references so you might want to keep your Lyd 48 around or get some garbage bass playback system. Usually the producer cannot hear it accurately unless they have very expensive subs without any bullshit ports, limiters, or sliding high pass filters. Often they just want to keep the timbre of their playback system (often a car, crappy headphones, turd fart sub or hyper limited near field woofers) distorting and want to keep that on bigger systems like a really well set up techno club pa or purpose built modern post studio rather than what it really sounds like. So you need to distort it, filter it, eq it to match what they heard on their inaccurate playback system. And when you need to spend thousands to get just accurate low mids in monitors, accurate bass is really hard. Most of them are producing on stuff that rings like a drum and most of what it recommended by the tech bros over at audio science review is one note bass over limited crap like the Genelecs and Neumanns without paired subs. I love the LYD-48. I’m not sure I’ll ever move to something else. But if the Core 59 were sort of ‘more of that’ and I felt like spending a lot more on monitors, that’s where I’d look.

I am a bit nervous about them. Their depth will eat up another 4" of studio space but I want to give them a fair shot. I probably should have bought locally so returning them would be easier.

The drama continues. I ended up cancelling the order with Thomann. It may have worked out perfect but if it didn't, I'd lose a lot of money trying to return them. So... the hunt is back on to find a pair in the US for a good price.
Done. Found a demo pair at Sweetwater. I bought them and will have them on Tuesday.
I will make a full report on my thoughts.

I don't half ramble on sometimes  , so here's the cliff note pertinent info version as a general discussion point. > They can be boundary loaded, select "wall" or "corner" on the DSP settings. > You can get away with a 1.2M listening distance which is pretty cool for the size of them. > They don't like my oversized desk and with your dimensions ARC or some correction will most likely be necessary, I'm nearly getting a 30Hz response and my room doesn't like it at all. > As Dan pointed at the downside to expensive super low distortion big bass monitors IME is they translate well to high dynamic range devices (2.1 systems, bose style premium car systems, studio headphones, even Iphones). On some less than ideal devices it can sound off, so a grot box or reference checks are recommended until you get used to them. If it sounds too good to be true, it usually is (that caught me out recently). > The LYD's as you know are great but when tested against the Core's though they come off a bit boxy, small, LMF muddy and lacking in terms of mid range clarity. So the Core's are a lot better but they cost over double so they damn well should be better. EQ decisions are easy for me as they are just pin point accurate in the mid range. > They're dry and the phantom presentation is quite segmented. IMO it takes some getting used to and I can certainly see why some wouldn't like it but after a while I thought it was pretty cool. > They can take a lot of SPL and additional bass which is cool for client listening or general fun. > I wouldn't be nervous, I agree with Svart on this monitor thing. At the KH310 range or above a lot of it is down to preference and clear bass extension. Can someone with the Core 59 give be a couple dimensions? I will be standing them up so the tweeter is on top. I need to know the distance from the bottom of the speaker to the midpoint between the midrange driver and the tweeter. That is supposed to be the ear height so I'm try to make some stands so I'm ready when they arrive.

I'm in the exact same position. I didn't think I would get anything other than the LYD 48, but the Core 59 kind of got me interested in finding out if they would work in my studio.
