Anyone care to take a guess?
Hint: I've thrown out hints . . .
The last time I asked this, I led people towards the 1178 and with good reason . . . I wanted AS to recreate one and started a list.
Not this time. I'm just curious what everyone else is thinking!
I'll park a blank poll here that we might populate later.

The originals are fairly cheap used, but what I would love to see is the JW Modded Aphex pieces ported to 500 series.

Ok, had a quick look around and there is the Avedis/Pye, Pom and Pynamic, so at least three versions of the Pye out there.
Q2 seems to still be making the Compex.
Which leaves the Focusrite the lone member of my serious suggestions that does not appear to currently have a hardware clone.

Yeah theres a few early mostly Varimu broadcast things that I only know from plugins like Federal etc. But the list pf stuff that was available at one time and that is no longer made and hasn’t been cloned?

If you think the 3630 is funny, the Symmetrix 501 is a laugh riot.
You could say “this compressor is a joke”, but you’d be missing the point. There’s jokes, and then there’s comic genius. THWACK! SNAPPP! POINGGG! A compressor that’ll leave you rolling on the floor.

Otherwise yeah I like focusrite red Kissed by the Red. The red 3 comp has rolled in and out of fashion over the years. They do have a cool sound to them. But it would be very dependent on the cloner getting the I/O xformers spot on! Oddly, I had a Red 7 for a while and even though it has a mono version of the Red 3 comp - overall it was a very underwhelming unit and I sold it. |
