As for the monitor, that's a hell of a deal for that many pixels. I was looking at a similar spec one from Dell for $899. Without looking at it with my own eyes, it seems solid. What flavor of TB is on your Apollo? Mine is TB2 and I use the Apple or Belkin TB2 to 3 adapter. I'd probably buy this cable, or one like it, for the monitor. |

The mi has hdmi out so that drives the monitor. It also has tb3 out so that connects to your apollo X. It also has usb outs which can be used fir external drives. I run my m1 like this olus a second monitor: usb to hdmi converter i think.
So, I doubt you’ll have a problem. I run a 32 and a 27 inch monitor. i think you will like the 32!

If you have the eye acuity to enjoy Retina resolution, 4k at 28" is the max I would go. A display bigger than 28" is not dense enough and I start seeing discrete pixels, which annoys me. Your eyes and taste might vary, of course.

Your eyes and taste might vary, of course. Yeah in the near field if anything bigger isn’t looking pixelated, they are doing something funky and you don’t want it. |

Advise to consider glare. Annoying during long work periods, I went with refurbished Apple Display with Nano texture glass. Shop around for good price when available.

I was just thinking about that drumsound. This model seems have quite a long leg extension forward. Mine are on their stands, its really only a couple of inches of depth. Why would you need to mount on wall, then you need bracket: another expense ? |

FWIW I'm not sure either of these can be mounted on an arm or wall, if that matters. They both have VESA mounts, so yes, they can. |

I use a 32" 2K monitor for audio editing because 4K pitch was too small to see easily at 2ft away. |

Well, I found that monitor for sale used in my area and bought it for $150. I won't be able to try it out until I get a new external disk drive. I sure hope there's nothing weird and I just plug it in and the picture in Logic and when watching videos just looks right.
I also hope that switching computers doesn't set off a plethora of issues regarding all my plug-ins. Hopefully I don't have to reach out to 3rd party plug-in companies for authorization codes for years old plugs.

yes a 32 at 4k is WAY too small... I am back to using a 43 inch Samsung QLED and it's too small at 4k. Though it's nice for me at 1440. 1080 is not enough room. IF you are going for 4k, like to see like an entire LUNA channel strip- I have worked this way- you are going to have to go to a 60" at least.. 65 is better. all the new TVs make great monitors. Plenty of color, contrast and brightness.

Plenty of color, contrast and brightness. The scaling that you use makes all the difference. If you use 2x scaling, 32" can be huge. At 1x scaling, 32" is too small. For a prettier image, you go towards 2x. To fit more information on the screen, you want to go towards 1x. |

But, I also upgraded from Logic Express! to Logic Pro at the same time and I think that had a lot to do with it. But yeah, remembering ten year old passwords? Fun times! Are scaling settings typically included in the software inside the monitor? Typically it's in the "Displays" section of your Mac's "System Settings". You're just telling your Mac how to scale all the pixels the screen has available. My 32" LG is a 4k monitor, but I interpret it as a 1920x1080 for the sake of UI usability.

Martin, if you weren’t running silicon m series before, you will need to have only silicon certified plugs or run the mini in rosetta mode, which sorta defeats the benefit of a new computer.
I just used this as a time to cull plugs i never or hardly used and only updated those I do: make a list of those companies.
The new year is just around the corner:,great time to load new silicon certified plugs, update your user account info: do housecleaning.
I’d start with logic, then as you update plugs, you can test them in logic, make certain they open and work: one step at a time and you’ll be golden.
If you have the mini, monitor and 2 cables, you should be able to set that up now: don’t need an external drive?

Thanks Matt. I still have to get an external drive, and hen I can get said. Appreciate the tip. Since I only use Logic, that's where I'll start ;-)
I won't bother with Luna until it has editing as good as Logic.

That guy in the thread didn’t understand rosetta mode at all.
Currently, most major plugs are silicon certified.
After 3-4 years, if a plug in is still not silicon certified, I’d be asking myself, why am I using this plug in, are there no silicon approved alternatives: why bother?
