Meh...maybe not this one. It would be cool to have, though. IDL...maybe lol. I know me - and when something is redundant, all I see is dollars sitting there. I'd be completely blown away if it came close to my Soyuz. Either one of them.

I keep meaning to get an SM7 again. Now that they’ve added modeling to their mics, I grabbed a cheaper B Stock UA Dynamic mic from VK. If it gets close to an SM7 and lets me have some fun with an RCA 77 setting every once in a while, it could be fun! I figured with drums and occasional live take singer, this will give me an easy foot in the door to modeling microphones where I’ll actually use it. Especially if I can bake the model into the recording with my Apollo in real time.
Might have to grab a pair of small caps for toms at some point. My Soyuz 013 tubes sound bonkers good on toms, I’ve just felt guilty throwing them there of all places (and a little nervous with some drummer). If I can get a “tubey” small cab thing going for cheap, I’ll give the small cap mics a try as well just for the hell of it!

I think as a person who mostly records loud and super dense stuff, these kinda things are lost on me. I did try the slate LDC and SDC but was pretty "meh" about both. It might be fun to tinker with the different models with the oddball quiet/sparse project, but I also have a pretty damn good mic locker, and I imagine many here do as well.
the subtle differences on these things on a distorted as hell guitar amp or person literally screaming their head off that i'll likely add more distortion to at mixtime seems kinda pointless.
