I'm looking for some new monitors. I currently use a pair of 1st gen Adam A7's, with a tannoy sub. I also use a pair of NHT Super Ones with an Adcom 545 amp. I do 85% of my mixing on the NHT's. They really make me work for it, but when things sound good on them they translate well. The Adams sound really "cool" but there's all kinds of upper mid and high end issues (balancing vocals, reverb/delay trails etc). Honestly, the Adams are the weak link in my setup.
My plan is to replace the Adam's with another powered monitor. I'm planning on auditioning the Neumann kh120 and new Adam A7v's. Still considering a few others as well (Hedd, Dynaudio etc). My question is this:
Some monitors, like the Adam A7v, Hedd 07 etc, have built in DSP correction that can be loaded onto the speakers themselves. While that's pretty cool, and solves some issues for me, does the added latency cause problems? Especially if I have a 2.1 system where the monitors are being slaved to the sub woofer? There's no way to time correct the subwoofer (to match the mains latency) if the monitors are coming off the sub woofer crossover, right? Am I missing something?
If that makes dsp correction unusable for me, then I'm going to look at a whole other setup, like some passives speaker setups.
Thoughts?

Every set I have had, except for PSI A21Ms have had DSP. I haven't noticed an issue, even playing along with playback on guitar.

I have the KH120s hooked up via the KH 150 Sub, and the DSP (provided via the KH150) definitely results in latency with that setup.
I play bass in the control room a lot, so I either switch to another set of monitors or go to headphones when I do. The good news is don't like playing bass through a sub as a general rule, so my solution solves two problems at once.

I should mention that I really love the KH120s ~ and they are great by themselves (plenty of low end extension), but the DSP correction provided by the KH150 sub is pretty incredible. I have several friends who use the smaller KH80s, which have DSP built in. I think those are amazing speakers in a tiny package~ would love to have a pair at home and for location work!

Digital (AES) in seems to solve it. But also, as just mentioned, tracking is usually done with headphones here.

Kh310 with dsp, running from spdif, as well as daisy chained to a digital sub.
I dunno know how can hear latency in sub bass frequencies..

Yes they all have latency. The ones with digital crossovers with linear phase filters will have considerable latency.

Latency is noticeable in most DSP based speakers, how problematic depends on the user, and the total latency of your DAW system. Dan is absolutely correct that phase correct filters are more DSP demanding on the cheap chips used on most active systems, but here is the thing as I was playing around today with both BSS Soundweb 9088is and BSS Minidrives today I didn’t notice any increase in latency when I went from Standard LR to phase compensated NTM filters. These are both older designs so I’m not talk SOTA DSP, I’m simply talking well designed DSP.
