Doing a studio refresh...and I'm trying to figure out the best way to hide cables. I have my desk in front of me with 8RU on each side. I also need another sidecar to put overflow rack stuff that I don't need to touch all the time. I'd prefer to put that on my right. So - running multiple cables with comfortable length, I would guess I'm looking at 15-20 foot cables. Maaaybe 10'. I don't really want to fish them through the walls, because my room is over the garage and the "crawl"space behind the walls is super hot in summer and cold in winter. What would be a good solution to making the cable runs less unsightly?

Techflex wrap. Or any other nylon flex wrap split loom. You can get it all kinds of diameters to wrap bundles up to 4-5'' easily. Then just use velcro cable straps to hold it tight. Looks very clean and allows the easy ability to add more cables later.

Soffits. Can provide pics if interested. Then, going to "snakes" instead of myriads of individual cables. Patchbays if it's called for.
My previous studio always had cables on the ground to sift thru, walk over, etc.. My new studio only has 2 cables on the floor that I can see - a USB to keyboard cable, and AC to keyboard. Everything else is behind racks, behind faux sound wall, in soffits, etc.. It's amazing how much peace and creativity is afforded by a "neat and controlled" studio. Love it. It's in the same league as your Trinnov. Game changer. Not necessarily "cheap" though depending on how you implement.
PS - oh and if there's a singer or instrumentalist in, mic to pre or power supply cables and headphone cables are strewn across the floor. LOL. I've got plans to tidy those up to though. Haven't got around to it yet.

Not necessarily for studios, but it shows an option that might work for some home studios.

I'm talking about a wooden soffit that is custom built and hiding about 8-10" of 24 pair Mogami - hundreds of channels of cable that you can "pull" cable thru. On the ceiling, on the wall, on the floor next to a wall (not my preference). Wiring 100% hidden, and in essence "invisible". Takes some planning, and some $$ but for me, 100% worth it. In the old place, I had multipair cables "bundled" and tie wrapped neatly, but walking in, around and over them was like walking thru small fallen trees all the time. This time I wanted ZERO cables on the floor. I accomplished it. At least 98%. It's all hidden behind walls, soffits, racks, machine room, etc..

For you either of the first 2 suggestions, snakes are awesome if you over speck the number of pairs and can solder, but that still leaves you power cables. Soffits are great or even just a nice conduit running under the floor with a couple of strings for pulls as you grow, but then we are talking major construction for a retro fit.
With the sleeves get it out of your head that I only need one, because I guarantee if you try to do it in one run some power cable and audio run bound together are going to cause a hummmmmm!

This is a really cheap solution; yet effective. I have used pipe insulators. If you're unfamiliar, they are black, hollow, and somewhat bendable. Made of.... I don't know what.... magical rubber Styrofoam? [Side note to self: add Magic Rubber Styrofoam to list of possible fictious band names.] Here's a pic: cdn.norman-piette.com/media/20200331160138/pipe-insulation.jpg Good for behind things, along baseboards, etc. Easy to add cables as they're split along the length and also easy to cut to length. Super cheap. -09

My room is a room above the garage 20x12, so it has Two 4 ft side walls that run into the slanted roof. So that leaves two spaces on each side that run the full 20’. It gets hot as hell in the summer and cold as ice in the winter…if I had an xlr breakout box on each side of the room, would those cables be alright in that space with the heat and cold?

They even had the stuff without the slit for roadies. It was very uncool to show up to a race with it but damn it was far more comfortable than cork or cellophane tape! If I remember correctly they made a big unsuccessful push into gulf that killed the company. I even remember putting the stuff on the tiller of small outboards.

I’m about to set up my space in a new house and am also looking at cable management. I’m enlighten to see some of your suggestions. I’ve been thinking about applying solutions from what I see at my telecomm day job. -Slotted plastic wire duct (eg. From Panduit) around edges and under my table. -Velcro’d cables onto lacer bars and offset lacer bars behind racks (eg. From Middle Atlantic) -wire wrap such as Techflex, as previously mentioned. I’m also thinking of using split hose-type wrap to pull cables through. I’ve used that at work to isolate cable types.

AC is always an issue. I spent this afternoon buying shoes for the kid and sorting issues in a friends rack after he done an excellent job of making it pretty y but at the end of the day after pulling all of his work the solution was stupid as hell. I solved it by moving the AC “power conditioner to the rear rails!

This is an interesting and helpful thread. I've long been psycho-anal about cable management regarding hiding it as much as possible, and when not possible, making it as visually neat and tidy as possible. I'm physically awkward on a Three Stooges level, and will trip over....well, nothing. Add in cables and it becomes very Moe and Curly. Also, lots of visual messiness in a studio appears to me like visual static or visual white noise. Tidy it up and I feel like I can think again.
