Yeah I know it’s a job some body gives their other wise fully certified burger flipping nephew, but still. For years I sold crown PCC as a back up for the lav, you build one into the desk and put one in front of the greens screen, hell you keep an old school dynamic lav just off set. But noooo instead it’s always a major issue when somebody has a problem. Problems are what set the pros from chaff in this industry.

Nothing like trying to get a bunch of jigs put together for the new live subs in 96 degree heat when you can’t regulate your body temp & UPS FedEx and USPS are all running late or losing hardware !

This reminds me of my frustration with the Jan 6th hearings. The UNITED STATES SENATE can't find a soundperson who can notch the feedback?

I’ve got a friend that used to be my intern at the studio and now is an A1 and has worked for a few of the top news networks. She said because of the troubleshooting and signal flow knowledge she got working in a studio environment the news gig is an absolute breeze. Can’t understand why other folks have trouble just doing a simple job. Makes me chuckle (and somewhat proud)

I think about this a lot
What sort of license do people have to make mistakes these days. I would hope they will be better than me, but how do I enable that today?

Lol, we are all human and mistakes will invariably happen. Although it does seem like some people really just don't give a crap and expect others to pick up the pieces, learning and evolving is one thing. Being a thorn in someone's side is something else entirely..

In general, ignorance of proper audio practices seems to be rampant in the lower levels or the broadcast/production industry ("Broadcast" in this case being broadened to include most non-music oriented "productions". That includes Congress.) Same level of audio ignorance commonly found on public access community tv studios.
