Is BackMarket legit? Anybody bought anything from there?
I'm in the market for a cheap, used iPad Pro to use as a screen mirror monitor of my main DAW monitor screen. The prices seem good, but something about that site makes me a little anxious.

I don't know. I couldn't get past their initial splash page that wanted me to allow them to harvest my information. Not that it's a huge deal, but most sites you can bypass giving them your info and cookies and at least get a LOOK at their page. Not with BM. So I left.

That's not helping my skepticism of that site.

I've bought both an old MacBook Pro and iPad Pro within the last year. No issues so far.

The fact that whoever runs the company thought the name “BackMarket” was a cute business name is all I need to know to not want to support that enterprise. Just like I don’t buy a car from StolenCarz or get my veggies from SepticTank Farms.
Who knows if you’ll end up with some gray market stuff with no support.
But maybe that’s just me.
Glad some of you guys have had good experiences, though.

The whole concept of BackMarket seems to at least, in part, be designed to give an air of legitimacy to what would otherwise be perceived as a completely "wild west" sort of situation.
There are a ton of "refurbishers" on there, each with different standards of what that word actually means. The more I looked into it, the more it appeared that it would just be a complete crap shoot on whether or not you would get a working unit that would continue to work and not have a battery blow up or something.
Those Reddit threads I linked to earlier in this thread were enough for me. I'll just buy a refurbished iPad pro direct from Apple.
