Beyond analog, I still rely heavily on Decapitator.

The above plugins and I’ll add sans amp or Nembrini PSA1000 also a Samsamp emulation

As above, Decapitator is used when needed. I also have had fun with SansAmp from time to time. Even the free Softube one knob thing is useful, though if you're going to automate the bypass, you also need to automate the track volume, because there's no volume compensation when the distortion is added.

I believe they fixed that with the side panels now. You can set input and output levels.

I do still sometimes use the original sansamp plugin.
But, the thing I have loved of late is driving the Fuse VCL-4 into distortion on say, a drum room, and blending that in for "edge."
Also using softube tape here and there.

Still lean on decapitator a lot - just works great, is easy to dial in and super flexible. Just got tupe, though. Have been using noiseash need preamps more and more also.
Fuse have so many great distortion plugs - dozer drive and 562A for obvious crushing, 376 is awesome for subtler jobs.
I like the nembrini sansamp sometimes and I often lean on the dirt from the uad 1073 if you push the preamp for guitar busses

I still use Decapitator quite a bit, but lately I've been using PSP Saturator more often. It can be a bit more subtle than Decapitator.

BOD sansamp or JSTclip or Magnetite depending on the type of distortion needed.

Use a lot of UAD Neve 1073, Black Rooster VP73HE, Arousor
a good free one I discovered is Tritik Krush
and just any processor with an inbuilt saturation knob, tapes, etc

I’ll add to the Fuse praise, and recommend slamming audio into the limiter section of his new plate reverb with the reverb turned off. And add in sister brand NEOLD’s stuff, especially Big Al. It’s all pretty unique sounding non-linearity so I don’t get tired of it. With Softube, I’ve been building things in Amp Room lately, and am really surprised at how useful it is. UA, I dig the Neves and sometimes the V76. Still meaning to dive into BYOD that monkeyxx recommended. github.com/Chowdhury-DSP/BYOD

Softube Amp Room is the dark horse amp sim for me. I've only got it recently, but it kind of upset my other amp sim habits, I reach for it now. Feels more like my real amps, or something. More artifacts, more things "wrong" (right) about it. It's more chunky and ugly and I need that. Boss Katana head into a wolfbox DI is also a really convincing guitar sound, but that's hardware. But it's also not an amp sim, nor a tube amp. I have strange dreams of Kemper being "the one" ever since I saw Pat Metheny playing with one... but I can't afford that so Katana it shall be.

I mainly use logics distortion plug in….and it is used on bass guitar to get it to be heard in the mix…not like you would use distortion on say electric guitar

Fuse VPRE-2C is crazy good. Probably the most convincing "analog-ish" distortion I've heard ITB. Aside from that, I have WAY too many distortion plugs. I often forget which ones I like and end up defaulting back to the easy stuff — FF Saturn, Sonimus Britson (output compensation on, FAT mode, fader resolution at 2x, crank until satisfied), Waves Manny Marroquin + MDMX... I'm already forgetting some! The new Audiority Pyros looks REALLY cool: Guitar Krush is one of my favorite bitcrushers. A secret weapon for sure.

It sometimes feels like cheating it works so well without even tweaking about 75% of the time.

Dirtbox compressors: Vulf when it works Presswerk and Molot with saturation cranked up on their highest quality settings. You might need to enable a slight lookahead to make Presswerk smash. Molot hit it hot and crank saturation with a sub 1ms attack on insane. Limiter is a soft clipper too. It turns into a gritty pancake. Kush Silika is crazy cool. Fuse VCL-373 is just nuts. This thing is fricking nuts. 2.5s dual release is the fastest and nuttiest release. The new PSP Impressor can really smash snares into metallic dust.
